Clan Wars
Winter 2005
"I am Dracula, greatest of all vampires to ever live and I…"
"Sorry, I am Lestat, known to all dead and alive, and clearly the better
vampire."
Adam frowned, who was Quinn fooling? 'Everyone you are Great Lord.' was
the telepathic reply and the former blond frowned.
There was a rumble among the gathered crowd, vampires of all races and species
watched in awe as two of their greatest legends butted heads.
In the back of the room, a dark haired vampire stood beside a distinguished man
with short cropped black hair and shook his head.
"Lestat, Lestat, will you never learn," Marius said with a sigh as the other
vampire misted out of the club wanting to let this little drama
play out for a while yet. But when he lost interest he would destroy the whelp
who had dared to take on his name.
Adam sighed as "Lestat" drawled on and on, but this had to be good or he may
never get Joshua back.
"Its him, it has to be."
"But what's that he's with, doesn't seem to be human."
"We have heard rumors of him liking to keep powerful pets."
"Are you forgetting his is not truly the great lord?"
"But isn't that the one? The one that bested the air order?"
"If it is may the dark lord receive us into his dark embrace."
"Why must we do this?
"You know since the wind has stopped hunting us down, war has been brewing.
Each clan wanting to prove that they and they alone are the rightful holders of
the name vampire. Old grudges put aside, centuries of in fighting…"
"Nothing like a quest for dominance to breed friendship."
"Must I spell it out for you? If we lose we will be forced to acknowledge some
horrid deformity as representing all vampires or be destroyed for our insolence.
They will be the only ones able to decide what is a vampire, and we would have
to bow to them.
When the Great Lord was here we did not have such concerns of our position.
No strain would ever even question us."
"But there are vampires who don't care, what about the ones…"
"Don't start on that mythology again there is no Vampire Lestat. I ask
you what would you do if Strigoi were somehow to win?"
"Those rotten chicken thieves? I'd be surprised if one made it that far out of
Romania. That is about as likely as those hooked African terrors. But what will
he do?"
"He will be our trump. Our ace in the hole. None have seen the great lord in
centuries, but he was the only one of out kind no matter the strain able to endure
the daylight."
"Then many will bow before us, I understand. But what about those who still won't
care? Great Lord or no?"
"Those who bow, will be lead, and we will be a force to be reckoned with. Those
who do not accept will fall to our might."
"What if he is unwilling to help us?"
"He will help us, I will make sure of it."
*******
"I'll miss you."
"Well, you'll be able to visit in a couple of weeks or so Bryan is pretty cool
about that."
"Py, get on the plane already! You know I should have just let you fly public,
but you would have been late and missed the flight anyway."
"Yes mother," Pyra said smiling at her Pajama clad friend. Who had already said
her byes to Dom and Jaimie. One last kiss and she ran up the steps of the McMahon
private jet.
"You are such a freak."
"Yeah like we didn't see Dom grab your ass."
Mystic wacked Pyra on the arm as she spoke emphaising each word with a smack.
"How dare you!"
"I dare."
"Don't make me throw you off the jet."
"Okay okay I'll be good," Pyra said with a shake of her head.
*******
Lucky sat in the vampire pub in London and sighed. They had been in the city a few
days and now Andrei was agitated. He had said something about way to many vampires
in one place and he wanted to know why.
Lucky looked around the pub and tried not stare at the different kinds of vampires,
there were some who looked like Andrei but not really, maybe more like the vampires
on Buffy. He was quite surprised to learn how many different types of vampires
there were but now he was more intersted in what they were saying if he was hearing
right.
After another half hour Armand stood with a frown and Lucky followed him out
past a pair a sabertooth vamps who he wondered how they walked around looking like
that.
"They can retract them if they wish," Armand said absently.
Lucky nodded as he tred to make more sense of the stuff he had heard. "Um, Andrei
is a day walker the same thing like it was in Blade?"
"Blade?" Armand took a moment to recall the strange vampire film he had watched
with Lucky on a boring rainy night and nodded.
"Yes they would be similar, how did you hear them?"
"Cat, why do people always think its only dogs that hear well."
"Of course," Andrei said walking towards their hotel.
"Um, is there a New York here?"
"No they were discussing the city. Lucky what are you thinking?"
"What did they mean by dark lord though?"
"Well that is the amusing part, the group you were listening too claim to have found
Dracula, the day walking dark lord in New York."
"Um can you take me here?"Lucky asked pulling out his cell phone and going into his
address book which also held street addresses.
"What are you thinking Lucky?"
"Not here," Lucky said with a slight sniff of the air. Armand cocked his head to
the side and nodded in agreement. The pair moved quickly to their destination as
Armand took Lucky into the air.
Landing a few hundred meters from the entrance gate. Andrei started to lead and
Lucky stopped him with an arm and sniffed the air.
"You can come out now Jynx," Lucky said with a roll of his eyes.
Andrei watched as something decended out of the trees shimmering as it landed. He
saw a girl with straight black hair, eyes outlined in kohl, wearing tight fitting
black jeans and a black tank top. But what caught his attention the most were the
shining green eyes.
"Are you two related?"
"Not in this life time buddy, what are you doing here kitty?"
"I need to talk to Brody."
"Who's the kid?" Jynx asked eyeing Armand who didn't bother to acknowledge the girl.
Beyond his original appraisal letting Lucky deal with her.
"Andrei now is he home or not."
"You told some kid...and now you want to drag Brody into this?"
"Oh for craps sake he's 513 is Brody fucking home or not?!"
"513?"
"Your ears broken with your nose? You know what forget it."
"Okay geez he isn't here, he's in Rome."
"Damnit."
"Lucky, don't you think its about time you told me what's going on?" Armand asked
calmly.
"They are going after Adam. I don't know why, but they were lying, they don't
know where Dracula is but he's close enough."
"How did you..."
"I don't know."
"About time baby started showing some potential."
"What the hell are you talking about now?" Lucky asks staring at Jynx.
"You, you're not half as magical as you should be its about time you started
reading minds. So we're heading to New York City eh?"
"We? What do you mean we?"
"You need me baby boy."
"For what?"
"Pyra and Brody are both busy. You plan on fighting vampires all by your lonesome
with...what are you?"
"Vampire," Armand said with a nod. "And no I do not care about the 'war' for the
title I have done enough in the hopes of fitting a title."
"You really are old..."
"Wait you said I could read minds? So could Andrei why didn't he know then?"
"Do you actually think he can compare? I don't care how old he is...you have more power in your little pinky then an whole army of pretty boys, now if only you would use it!"
"I don't see you doing anything."
"Sorry if I don't have time to pull a rabbit out of a hat for you baby."
"Stop calling me that."
"Then act your age."
"And how old would that be?" Armand asked.
"Techically we don't suffer the ravges of time, but isn't that body of yours 20 something?"
Lucky rolled his eyes and turned away from Jynx.
