Pyra slid onto the property of what humming to herself. For no real reason she was in an exceptionally good mood. She bladed up a side ramp and into a side ramp and was instantly assaulted by loud rock music. It took her a minute to identify the old Staind song and walked in to see Adam sprawled out on the couch reading a magazine.
Trying to surprise her oblivious fiancé she tried silently slipping out of her blades but as she tried to pull one off she suddenly lost balance and landed on the floor with a thud.
Hearing the noise through the radio Adam sat up and barely suppressed his laughter.
“You okay?” He asked.
”Yeah,” Pyra muttered pulling the blades off, “just wish my wallet wasn’t there it would have hurt less.”
“Oh,” Adam said still grinning as Pyra walked over to him in only socks. She climbed onto the couch and him facing him with a leg on either side of him before taking his face into a kiss.
“Why are you listening to Staind?” Pyra asked knowing he wasn’t their biggest fan.
“K-Rock they were playing zombie a minute ago,” Adam explained as the song ended.
“Ah I see.”
“Hey here’s an old one from Puddle of Mudd, hey you hear that guys marrying Pyra.”
”Didn’t he write this about her?”
”Yea shit happens.”
Before the first sound of the song started Pyra was looking at Adam with one eye closed. Her attempt at eyebrow rasing.
“Met a girl…” Pyra shook her head and rested her head on his shoulder. “Why do I put up with you?” She asked and Adam laughed.
“My charm and devilish good looks?”
“Oh man,” Pyra said giggling. “it’s the humor, any guy who can make me laugh is a keeper.”
“Well then,” Adam said and started tickling until Pyra was gasping for breath and then he smiled as he watched her catch her breath. “Oh by the way I finally got through to ask him, he said he would be happy to be my best man.”
“Shane said yes? That’s cool; you act like you thought he wouldn’t.”
”Shane? Uh Py, I thought I told you I asked Matt.”
”What?! But Nausi is my Maid of Honor! Matt?!” Pyra exclaimed stunned.
“She is? Well its just one day,” Adam said. “They’re both adults.”
“One day? There are rehearsals, lots of rehearsals, practice dinners and a whole bunch of other crap.”
“Huh.”
“All you have for me is a sound? How am I supposed tell Nausi this? The rat bastard cheated on her.”
“He’s still my best friend Pyra,” Adam said seriously.
“Sometimes I wonder about your choice in friends,” Pyra mutters.
“Look,” Adam says getting angry, “this is my wedding too, I want Matt there.”
“But as best man? He couldn’t just sit in a corner?”
“Pyra, no besides I figure the corner is already taken by Chris.
“Chris? Chris who? I don’t hold it against Benoit that he’s missing a tooth.”
“You know what Chris I mean.” Pyra closed her eyes and took a deep breath.
“Any more surprises? Planning on inviting the robot?”
“God no, that thing is creepy.”
“Wait who are your groomsmen?” Pyra asks fearfully.
”I figured I’d ask Josh of course, Shane, and Jeff. You?”
“Mystic, lexi, and Mariposa of course.”
”Yeah that’s why I figured three.”
“Dude who’s Mystic gonna walk with?”
”What do you…oh…why is this so complicated.”
”Cause we had to be the last ones to be married. Oh man this is gonna be fun,” Pyra said rolling her eyes.
