Pyra, Adam, and Josh are sitting in the living room talking. Actually Pyra had just moved to Adam's lap and was playing with a brown/blond curl. Josh turns away and looks at Lucky who is pushing a tuna can over to him with his nose.
"Open this and I'll sit on you."
"No," Josh says and Pyra points at the can and makes it a bowl of fresh tuna cooked exactly how Lucky likes it.
"That's why I love Pyra," Lucky says and takes a bite of his fish.
"You know you spoil him," Adam says.
"Yeah I don't like him either," Lucky says.
"This is my last here and Lucky is my entertainment? This is sad," Pyra says and Adam starts moving his hands, "Dude! Josh is right there he's not blind you know." Adam laughs reaching into her pocket and pulling out her cell phone.
"This was poking me, not every time I touch you is my mind there."
"Just 99.99% of the time," Lucky says lifting a paw and turning on the tv. "Look its Pyra's adult film," Lucky says as a queen of the Damned commercial ends.
"Shut up," Pyra says annoyed.
"Let's go to the movies," Josh says.
"And see what?" Adam asks.
"Not vampire porn, I was on the set, my poor eyes, I'm too young for this," Lucky says.
"We'll decide when we get there," Pyra says and the guys agree.
"Can I come?" Lucky asks.
"But you're a cat," Adam says.
"And you're ugly," he turns to Pyra, "You can make me a boy right?"
"I guess I haven't really thought about it. If you come out looking like a thunder cat we never try it again and move on."
"Yeah right, you can do anything," Lucky says.
Pyra thinks about it for a few seconds with both guys knowing she will do it before she does. Lucky is waiting eagerly and they have to wonder if he really doesn't know Pyra will give him anything he wants.
"okay but don't say I didn't warn you," Pyra raises her hand and Lucky is engulfed by what looks like flames. When they disperse a boy that looks about 19 is standing there, starring at them with sparkling green eyes. He has short spiky black hair, a black t-shirt and black jeans. Pyra tries to place where she recognizes her cats human form.
"His ears are a little pointy," Adam says giving him a once over.
"Oh!" Pyra says remembering her faviorate Sabrina book. Lucky looks exactly the description of Salem did when he was made human. "Everybody else ready?"
Josh nods as Lucky look at himself in the downstairs mirror twisting and turning like an acrobat (or cat) to see himself. Pyra pops herself into black parachute pants and a long sleeved red shirt, when Lucky starts playing with the string extending from her pants, se makes them a pair of perfectly fitting flairs.
"You can't do stuff like that," Pyra says as Adam returns dressed.
They arrive at the theater looking at show times to decide what to see. Lord of the rings 5:30, Crossroads 6:00, John Q. 6:00, Queen of the Damned 6:00, A beautiful Mind 5:40.
"What time is it?" Josh asks looking like a younger version of himself with the same hair. He had gotten a few stares but he looked too young and little. Pyra couldn't believe Lucky was the most muscular guy there, both Josh and Adam were twigs (hush) which made Adam look even more like the guy from Puddle of Mudd.
"5:43," Pyra responds.
"We can see Cross . . ."
"Don't even finish that sentence cat!"
"Roads!" Lucky says laughing.
"What about John Q.?" Adam asks.
"I guess my friend said it was really good."
They purchase tickets to the show and besides a group of teens near the back of the theater, Lucky and Pyra are extremely rowdy yelling at the screen in certain scenes. After the movies they go to McDonald's.
"What do you mean you don't serve milk? Its a drink isn't it?" Lucky asks quite loudly.
"We have milk shakes," The cashier says as Pyra walks over to Lucky and runs her fingers through his hair. He purrs surprising the cashier.
"What was I saying?"
"Don't worry about it," Pyra says still playing with his hair as she points to a vanilla milkshake on a display behind the cashier, she nods and goes to fill the order. Together they walk their trays over to Josh and Edge who have a booth waiting for them. When they sit Pyra puts a hand over Lucky's milkshake making it milk as he unwraps his fish fillet.
Pyra watches and can't believe how neat her cat is. Eating his food in dainty little bites not a bit of sauce drips or stains his fingers. Pyra looks over at Edge and Josh and they look like slobs in comparison.
"Want my fries?" Lucky asks.
"But they're the best part!" Pyra says and Lucky tries one and takes the fries back.
"Tasted bad before, I don't know I guess cat's like different things."
"You're adjusting well," Josh says.
"Not that hard, walk on two legs don't attack string. I should have done it sooner its fun.
"Don't get used to it," Pyra says.
"Why would I want to be a person forever? Cat's rule besides you might try to make me work or something."
"Lazy bum aren't you?" Pyra asks.
"What do cat's do eat and sleep its our reason for living."
"And spying," JC says.
"Well I have to do something between meals and naps," Lucky says.
"And minding your own buisness wouldn't work?" Pyra asks.
"No, oh and now that I have fingers . . ." Lucky reaches over to Pyra and starts tickling her without mercy. "I told you I'd get you one day," Lucky says with a grin.
"We don't Know you two," Josh says.
Lucky stops a few minutes later and they both sit up still laughing. They finish their meal discussing the finer points of John Q beating up the sniper, and when Barbie attacks as Lucky liked to call a blond girl in the movie who beat the crap out of her boyfriend.
Hanging on the wall his only saving grace is that the windows are barred and covered with so much grime a little thing like the sun can’t penetrate it.
“I’ve returned you inhuman scum,” a woman with red hair braided down her back, in black leather pants and a black wife beater that shows off toned muscles says.
Even with the fear he was feeling he felt that this scene could have a whole other meaning. She tapped the black drum, that had what looked like runes written all over it, that held most of his blood to make him weak enough not to break the chains. He was staring at her wondering what she was waiting for a strand of his dirty brown hair falling into his eyes.
“Out of nowhere her veiled partners appeared and strapped him to a board. She straddled him cross in hand and leans so close that he can feel her blood running through her not that he’s in any condition to do anything about it.
”Do you know what you are?”
“A good time for you babe,” The vampire says grinning. She places the cross on his face giving him a painful tattoo.
”Where are the others like you?”
“You know they say once you go dead you never turn back.”
“Oh really? Once you are dead there’s no turning back.”
“Immortality babe! You need to get laid.”
“Where are the others?”
“Doesn’t jimmy have enough love for you?”
“Bring it in,” She says emotionlessly ripping open his shirt.
“Yeah babe can I get someone to eat? Then we’ll really have fun. I won’t bite you I promise.” One of the veiled women returns with so kind of metal weapon holding wooden shafts. “Hey what’s that?” The vampire says nervously aware of his mortality at the moment. “Ok! Ok! I was just playing, they’re in New York! You gonna let me go now?”
“Hardly,” she says pulling the trigger sending a stake into his heart with a bullets speed. His scream echoes off the walls shattering a window. She draws a blade and with a clean slice his head rolls off the board and he forms two piles of dust.
“Are to go to New York next?” A woman an lavender veils asks.
“The city that never sleeps I should have been there long ago.”
”Prepare the flight,” a veiled woman yells as what follows sounds like a game of telephone.
“Sin city is a little cleaner at the rising of the moon,” the red head says as night falls.
~ ~ ~ 2~ ~ ~
The next morning in NYC, Pyra wakes from a semi restful sleep entangled in Edge as usual. Pyra doesn’t feel like moving and lies there listening to his heartbeat until the rhythm makes her fall asleep again. The next thing she knows Edge is awake and stroking her hair.
“Morning,” he says knowing that he’s awake.
“Howdy, this is very comfy,” she replies.
“Yeah but you have to leave soon.”
”The power of Radioactive Underwear, dude be glad its only a week.”
”But a week is still a long time,” Edge says.
“Well its not like I have to leave right this second . . .”
“Hey you two awake yet?” Lucky asks walking into the room in a towel. He walks over to Pyra and sits on her side of the bed. I only have one outfit. I need clothes.
”Aww you’re so cute,” Pyra says smiling. “Alright let’s go.”
Pyra climbs out of bed following Lucky to the guest room Lucky had claimed as his own and is again amazed about how neat he is. The bed is made and his ‘dirty’ clothes are folded and sitting on the side of the bed.
Pyra looks at the boy, he may be new at being a person but he seemed to have picked up great traits. Knowing Lucky has his own tastes she takes his hand as she waves it around the room and ends up with the decoration of the average punk teenage boy. There is a huge poster of Kittie over his bed and Pyra wonders if it has anything to do with their name. He has a complete home entertainment center and Pyra is surprised to see a small book shelf in the corner.
She walks over to his closet and smiles at the poster of the door its one of RU. She opens the door and all she sees is black, shirts, pants, sweaters, and shoes. All black, but some of the shirts did have bands or decorations on them. While she had been exploring his closet Lucky had slipped into boxers and when she turned he was folding his towel.
“You have a full closet, enjoy.” Pyra says walking out and back to her room. Adam was sitting up on the bed but otherwise hadn’t moved. “Did you think I forgot about you?”
“Hey so how do I look?” Lucky says barging into her room again.
”I liked it better when he couldn’t open doors,” Adam says going into the bathroom.
Pyra gave the boy a once over, black system of a down T-shirt. Black Jnco jeans, and black boots. She applauded as he walked over to her dresser and opened the small treasure chest that held all her jewelry and he lifted the first two compartments and went into the things she almost never wore any more. He takes two black spiked cuffs and two small silver earrings, then realizing he wasn’t pierced put them back. He took a black spiked collar and completes his raid placing everything back where it belongs.
“You are not wearing a collar! I have to fight with you to wear one when you’re a cat!” Pyra exclaims.
“Its not so bad now.”
“So when are you guys leaving?”
“Few hours Mystic well probably be over soon yelling at me about not being late.”
“She’s coming over?” Lucky asks smiling.
“Yeah why are you smiling?” Lucky whispers his master plan to her and she laughs.
When Pyra comes downstairs Lucky and JC are eating cereal. Adam is frying up eggs and bacon. There’s a knock on the door and Pyra opens it to Mystic.
“Hello there Pyra, not dressed yet I see,” Mystic says to her friend who is in a black fuzzy bath robe.
“Hush up I have plenty of time.”
“Is that bacon I smell?”
“Yeah pull up a stool,” Adam says. “Its almost ready.”
Mystic walks into the living room and notices Lucky for the first time. Now she was wondering who this boy was sitting in Pyra’s kitchen eating cereal. A very cute boy and he looked 20 or so. He was mighty pale with black hair, why was no one introducing her! She turned to Pyra and whispered.
“Who’s the kid? He’s cute.” Pyra smiles then just starts laughing never answering Mystic’s question.
“Hi I’m Fabian’s little brother, Demean,” Lucky says with an altered voice thanks to Pyra, so he has the same accent as his ‘older brother’.
Man that entire family is hot, Mystic says to Pyra telepathically and she just doubles up with laughter. Mystic stares at her. “What is so funny?”
Lucky shrugs as he indicates for her to sit by him. She does as Adam hands her a plate of eggs and Bacon and puts a glass next to her and pours some orange juice for him and some apple juice for her.
“Can I have some too?” Lucky asks and Adam pours another glass for the cat boy.
“So how long are you staying?” Mystic asks.
“A week,” Lucky replies turning his full attention to Mystic. “Maybe we could hang out.” Lucky says and Pyra dies when Mystic starts to ponder the invitation. Adam is just shaking his head the entire time as JC comes down the stairs.
“Lucky did you steal my gel?”
”Cricket, are you crazy why would Lucky steal your gel?”
“To spike his hair apparently.”
“Josh come here for a second,” Pyra says trying to shut him up.
“Cricket Lucky is a cat, he doesn’t have hair.”
“Mystic Lucky is sitting next to you.” Mystic looks to the side opposite Lucky and sees nothing. “The boy Mystic.”
“What?!” She shrieks horrified that one she found him attractive, two that he’s a person. “Lucky?!”
“Hey Mystic,” He says with his normal voice trying very hard not to laugh. “So . . .” Mystic smacks him and he starts to cry.
“What the hell is wrong with you? Don’t hit him!” Pyra yells.
“You did this on purpose!” She accuses the cat.
“It was just a joke,” Adam says.
“You knew!” She smacks Adam a lot harder as Lucky runs into Pyra’s arms as she looks lost on exactly what to do to stop his crying. JC rolls his eyes and takes her arms making her give the boy a hug and she sticks her tongue out at her roommate.
“Hey! I just made you breakfast! It wasn’t my idea!” Adam yells.
”What the fudge people? Can’t I leave you alone for a second?” Nausi says waking into the house.
“These people! These bastards, you know what they did to me?!”
“Mystic calm down,” Nausi says looking at Pyra who is losing the attempt to calm Lucky. “Who’s that?”
“Lucky!” Mystic shrieks.
“God Pyra!” Nausi says annoyed at her incompetence and at the fact that that is her cat. “Move,” she says giving Lucky a real hug. “Don’t cry,” she whispers as he finally starts to calm down. When he breaks away and sits down Nausi hits Pyra.
“Ow! What the hell you do that for?”
“Retard! Man I don’t even want to deal with you,” Nausi says as Mystic walks over to Lucky who looks about ready to run.
“I didn’t hit you that hard.”
“It didn’t hurt,” Lucky replies.
“Then why’d you cry? You’re a boy, boys don’t cry.”
“That’s how boys get complexes Mystic. Never being allowed to express their emotions,” Pyra says sounding like a text book.
“Whatever, if it didn’t hurt why did you cry?” Mystic asks again.
“You’ve never yelled at me before, you scared me and it hurt my ears.”
“I’m sorry,” Mystic says seeming Lucky more like an overgrown cat now as she shakes away the idea that he’s cute and thinks its Pyra’s annoying cat.
“So,” Lucky starts, “You think I’m cute?”
“Oh Mah God, that’s sick Mystic,” Nausi says.
“Shut up,” she says waving a fist as Lucky laughs.
“You did!” Lucky says laughing. “I was just guessing since you have the hots for Fabian.”
”You really are Lucky,” Mystic says annoyed walking back to her bacon.
“Nausi you’re quiet,” Josh says.
“Chazie, your roommate is out of her fudging mind!”
“Tell me something I don’t know.”
“Thanks Josh.”
A few hours later Pyra has Josh go with her as she gets her favorite bass from the basement before she leaves. She had decided on taking it last minute and had almost been smacked by Nausi for coming close to making them late.
“So, will you do something fun with Lucky? Take him out? Not keep him cooped up like he’s still a cat?”
“I don’t know . . .” Josh starts.
“Don’t spend the rest of the week like he’s still a cat!” Pyra exclaims.
“Maybe.”
“Its all I can ask for Josh.”
At the airport RU gets the feeling that the new security rules are letting up. While there’s still the guy with the machine gun standing off to the side the checks aren’t as vigorous, but at least still not as lax as they used to be. They are all sitting in a waiting area since they are done with time to spare. She watches as passengers depart from a plane. They all seem to be dressed in Saris in all colors of the rainbow. But not exactly and Pyra wonders where the breeze is for the way their clothes are tossed to and fro. Pyra gets a picture of wind dancers and realizes the outfits would be perfect for something like that. Amid them all is a women dressed in all black with red hair pulled in a ponytail down her back. The woman catches Pyra’s eye and gives her a distasteful look. Pyra figures she doesn’t like being stared at shrugs and turns away.
Deborah leads her girls into a waiting van that had already transported their sensitive luggage. They drive to the warehouse district where the burnt out shell of an abandoned warehouse had already been converted by another group of veiled ones.
~ ~ ~ 3~ ~ ~
That same night Josh agrees with Pyra and decided to take Lucky to a club. After a few minutes he talks Adam into coming along.
“You know Pyra wouldn’t care so don’t give me that.”
“Sometimes I wonder if she would care if I cheated,” Adam says.
“Do that and I’ll kill you,” Lucky says coming down the stairs in boy flares, heeled boots and a long sleeved black shirt with black mesh for the sleeves. Josh noticed he had gotten into Pyra’s nail polish and that his nails are black. He had traded in his collar for Pyra’s red chain with a small black padlock. His hair was spiked (Chester in crawling) and Josh knew why his hair was almost falling into his eyes.
Adam comes down the stairs a few minutes later in black leather pants, heeled boots also and a long sleeved dark blue silk shirt that had the top three buttons undone. His hair was pulled back with the whitest strips falling into his face. Josh returns dressed in jeans boots and a black shirt..
At the club Josh uses his VIP status to bypass the line which would have been a nuisance because of Lucky’s lack of ID. They sit at a table and a few vipers approach the fresh meat instantly.
“The pretty ones always travel in packs,” their leader says as they reach the table.
“Want to dance?” One girl asks Josh who is clearly hesitating, Adam pokes him and he jumps and the girl purposely takes it as a yes and leads him on the dance floor. Of the two girls left the blond looks directly at Adam sizing him up like a piece of meat. Adam being the ever cocky flirt says,
“Like what you see?”
“Dance?”
“Sure,” he says standing surprising the girl with his height. Lucky is left with the brunette who touches one of his spikes before talking.
“I think I got the cutest one.” Lucky grins.
“Well duh, Adam is a dork and all Josh can get is screaming 12 year olds.”
“Dance with me.”
When the girl Adam is dancing with finds out he’s taken she move on to a single man or at least one who’ll pretend he is. Josh walks over and sits down with Adam the girl long gone.
“You seen Lucky?” Josh asks and Adam shakes his head. They decide to split up and cover the entire dance floor in search of the cat.
Lucky on the other hand has been taken into the parking lot where he is making out with the brunette on the roof of her car. When she starts pulling at his clothes he stops her.
“What are you doing?”
“What do you think? I’m having a good time.”
“People act like this too?” Lucky says thinking about being in heat.
“You’re a person aren’t you?” She asks hands already on his pants again.
Before Lucky does anything else a van pulls up and a redheaded woman dressed in all black looking ready for battle steps out. Lucky turns to stare at the veiled women that disembark from the car. Lucky doesn’t even notice when the girl climbs into her car. He stands watching the women and hears a honk. The brunette looks about ready to run him down, he jumps out of the way doing a haphazard tumble/back flip but still landing on his feet. He turns to walk into the club and trips on his pants cutting his hand on the pavement.
One of the veiled women stops to tie one of her veils around his hand to stop the blood. He thanks her and she replies, “whatever that was it was not a woman. She fears us because she knows what we are. This place is not what you think. Leave now for your own good.”
“My friends . . .”
“Humans will be fine, we take what doesn’t belong.”
“Grace!” Deborah yells.
“Stay here,” the woman says as she runs off and of course Lucky goes inside to get Josh and Adam. As he walks in a blue light spreads throughout the entire club and he falls to the floor in agony. Whiskers sprout on his face and his eyes go from human to cat then back again. He also starts sprouting fur but doesn’t shrink. Further in the club on the dance floor Adam is also doubled over in agony, his skin has gone from California tan to snow white and his eyes are bright red, his fangs are so sharp that they are cutting into his cheeks. Josh walks over to him for the most part unaffected though he is attracting things like a human magnet he is in no pain.
“Are you okay?”
“This was the worse, I don’t even want to know about the kind of power that caused it.”
“Uh, Joshua?” Lucky says from behind them. They turn and look at the overgrown cat in shock. He is looking at the two of them scared. “I want to go home!” He wails.
Unknown to the three of them the veiled women are sweeping through the club but have so far only captured a few female succubae. Then one of them notices Lucky and Adam.
”What the hell happened to you?” Josh exclaims.
“I don’t know, but there are these girls and we have to leave like now,” Lucky say. The guys rush out of the club where about six of the women are waiting. Three head for Adam and two for Lucky. The remaining one staring down Josh to see if he is indeed human, he uses his magneto like abilities to drop a storm of metal objects between them as he screams run.
~ ~ ~ 4~ ~ ~
Everything is black, its so dark but with his cat eyes he can make out a few people and shapes around him. Where am I? Suddenly everything comes back to him, Josh making every thing go crazy, them splitting up then the two sharp pains in his back, then everything had gone dark. He had seen enough movies to know he had been drugged and he still felt a bit fuzzy. He sat up and realized he was chained to a pole like some stupid dog.
Veils breezed past him on the other side of a huge blackened room. Veils? What was her name again?” He looked at his hand which was still bandaged and tried to figure what was bothering him so much about his pants. Then he realized whatever half transformation he had gone through had returned his tail. Using a sharp claw he cut a hole in the back and gave his tail a little hole to come out. He breathed a sigh of relief as he rattled the chains.
“Shh!” A voices hisses. He turns and can just make out the girl that had almost run him over.
”You could have killed me!” Lucky yells.
“What are you?” She says suddenly moving her head forward as his tail sways in the air. Lucky notices she is more chained up then he is. She is strapped to a board with her arms and legs chained.
The leader of the women walks over and turns on a light and looks around. She points to a guy in a far corner. Lucky turns and sees about a dozen other people chained in different things. He then notices that they aren’t really people. When he sees curly blond hair he gets some hope then realizes the body is too small. When the person turns Lucky sees that she has green and flaky skin.
He looks up and hanging in cages in the air are what he guesses are vampires the stench of blood screaming off their bodies. The leader snaps off the light and Lucky hopes that Adam and Josh especially Josh who had the brains to find him were looking hard for him. They wouldn’t leave him here, they couldn’t Pyra would kick their collective asses for him.
“Pyra I miss you,” Lucky whispers and curls into a sad little ball.
Pyra and the rest of the band is eating dinner when she gets a sinking feeling. A burst of sadness seems to come over her and she puts down her sandwich and closes her eyes willing for the feeling to pass but it just intensifies.
“Are you okay?” Chester asks sitting across from her.
“Yeah,” Pyra says wishing she could shake off the sorrowful feeling.
Adam and Josh reach the house within minutes of each other. After an hour the fact that Lucky is still missing starts to bother them. Adam doubles back to the club in bat form and tries to find any trace of him. Little does he know a veiled woman notices the bat circling the club and follows it back to the property. She is beyond stunned at the magic she can feel protecting the area. She goes back to the warehouse sure she knows who the bat was.
At the warehouse she gives them the address and a detailed description of what she saw. They plan to watch it during the day where the vampire would be dormant to see if they can find a weakness in the fortress.
“Grace! Its your turn to feed the prisoners,” A women in blue veils says shoving a tray with a bowls and cups plates and straws on the first level and some bread and water below that. She feels no sympathy for the prisoners and knows if by some miracle they are one of the few to have ever been spared they won’t remember it anyway. She starts with the prisoners at the opposite end from Lucky. Giving them bread and water though some didn’t have the free limbs for the bread. She was about to comment on this when a forked tongue lashed out and ate the bread.
By the time she reaches Lucky her movements are automatic. Slice, pour, straw, drop. Lucky is curled in a ball and without the clothes she might not be able to tell where he started and where he ended. She puts his food down and rolls over to the woman running over Lucky’s tail in the process waking him screaming in pain.
“My tail!” he exclaims grabbing it and holding it with tears in his eyes.
The only reason Grace gives him a second look is because she sees the cloth on his hand. “You how can this be?” Lucky is to busy cradling his tail to pay any attention to her. He is crying freely afraid to touch the mangled portion of his tail.
“I can’t believe I kissed you. You’re such a baby!” The woman behind him exclaims.
“And your breath smelled like my litter box! Shut up! You almost ran me over and she ran over my tail! I hate people, you’re all mean!” Lucky says.
Grace kneels down in front of Lucky and takes her scarf off his hand and ties it lightly around his tail. Lucky looks at his paw/hand which is already healed.
“Its enchanted,” She says calmly. Lucky wiggles his tail and wipes his eyes. His nose twitches as he looks at the bread and water.
“Do I look like my name is fido?”
“Its all you sub-human scum deserve,” A girl in purple veils walking by with chains says.
“Subhuman? Who chained who?” Lucky says kicking the bread and water away.
Grace walks away and picks up the dish and the cup. A girl in yellow shows up with a mop for the water.
“No more food for that one,” A girl in red mutters. “Let him eat rats if what we provide is not up to his tastes.
~ ~ ~ 5~ ~ ~
The next morning Adam and Josh are on Adam (hush up), they still can’t find any trace of Lucky and Adam’s condition is becoming slightly unbearable because of the excessive use of his powers and the fact that his hunger was instantaneous with his turning. He decides he has to head out for food before he does something crazy like what had been bouncing in his head for the last half hour between thoughts of finding Lucky and Pyra killing him were thoughts of Josh being a ready and waiting sack of blood.
“I have to get something to eat,” Adam says.
“I noticed, I don’t appreciate being looked at like a stake special,” Josh says. Adam puts on a pair of sunglasses and heads out into the bright shining early morning sun.
One veiled women in brown is shocked to see the vampire out in broad daylight. She keeps waiting to see him burst into flames
or at least show some weakness to the sun. She is so shocked that she practically flies back to the makeshift headquarters to tell them what happened as a girl in green tracks Adam and one in pink keeps an eye on the property. She had seen some equally suspicious men enter near dawn.
Inside Josh is trying to figure out if they had missed out on a place and ‘CATS’ cast refugee could hide when the ringing phone startles him.
“Hello?”
”Hey Joshie what’s up?”
It takes Josh a few second to answer. “Nothing much you?”
“Its cool, some of the displays are beyond funny.”
“Well then have fun,” JC says.
“Did you take Lucky out?”
“Um . . . yeah,” JC says shifting the phone from ear to ear.
“You know you’re a bad liar,” Pyra says annoyed.
“Pyra I’m not lying,” Josh says. “Everything’s fine.”
“Let me talk to Lucky.”
“He’s not here, went out with Adam,” JC says digging himself deeper into his lie.
“Really? Well I have to go now, Nausi is giving me the evil eye. Bye liar.”
“Bye Pyra,” he says hanging up the phone and shaking his head wondering what possessed him to lie to Pyra.
“I swear right into broad daylight,” A veiled woman explains to Deborah.
“That is an interesting twist, do we know what the other is?”
“No, their house is in a gated community and there is no way to penetrate it by mortal or magical means. All we know is his public persona.”
“And that would be?”
“A member of the singing group *Nsync.” Deborah turns up her nose clearly not a fan of the pop.
“What of the creature we have captured?”
“He has barely moved since yesterday. All he seems to do is sleep. There is no evidence that the other two miss him though that must have been what the vampire was searching for.”
“Once I’m through with the vampires he becomes top priority over the succubae.”
“What should we do about the day walker?” The girl asks.
“Give him the tests, all three then we’ll see what to do with him.”
“What about his powers? We’ve never seen a vampire that can shift he’s supposed to be the stuff of legend like . . . like.”
“The prince of Darkness,” Deborah mutters thinking this may be what she had been looking for the link she needed to finally get her revenge.
Adam is walking whistling some entrance music in a pretty good mood now that he has his blood. He starts drinking one of the containers as he crosses the street. As he reaches the next corner he trashes the container and starts on a second drinks half and places it back in the bag. When he looks up a woman in green is standing in front of him. She is holding a tray of cubes of bread being held by toothpicks.
“Would you like to try our amazing wonder bread?” She says shoving the plate at Adam. He takes one puts it in his mouth smiles and walks away. He spits it out a few steps farther away having no interest in food and not such a fan of garlic like Pyra. He walks across the street and hits a brick wall. The only problem is that there is no wall. He looks around and sees a nun a few feet away peddling crosses and nick knacks. He rolls his eyes and crosses the street, happy he hadn’t gotten too close. The last thing he needed right now was a half melted limb. He decides to cut through an alley and find his way from there, when his acute vampire hearing catches the sound of moaning. He lifts the trash bin lid and sees the same woman who gave him the bread beaten, bloody and half dead. He lifts her out of the trash and places her on the floor blood all over his hands. His next move is watched by three veiled snipers with wooden arrows that never miss. They silver outfits shimmering in the sunlight.
“Its gonna be okay,” Adam says pulling out his cell phone. “Hello? 911? I need an . . .” he turns to the spot where he places the woman and she’s gone. “Uh, never mind.” Adam hangs up and goes home without anymore problem.
“What?” Deborah screams at the girl in who’s been replaced by a girl in blue tracking Adam.
“Not even a taste, he didn’t so much as lick his fingers.”
“What is this? A vampire that doesn’t drink blood.”
“There’s more he retuned from the butcher shop, after purchasing quarts of pigs blood.”
“Pigs blood? There must be some reason,” Deborah says refusing to believe a vampire could be good.
“I don’t know, what o we do now?”
“We’ll get him here. We know he wants his pet or whatever it is back.”
“How can we? When we can’t get anywhere near their home?”
“They still must receive mail.”
“I’ll make the preparations,” the girl in green says walking off. She instructs a girl in orange to bring Lucky to her in the office. He’s dragged in by the collar and tied to a chair with two guards on either side. Lucky’s head is in his chest and in a few seconds he’s asleep again.
“Wake up!” Deborah says smacking him in the face and Lucky yelps as he looks up. Tired and hungry he has no interest in what’s going on around him.
“You know, I’ve been doing this for years and I’ve never seen any creature like you. What are you?”
“What do I look like lady?” Lucky replies his voice raspy.
“Thirsty? Tell me what I want to know and I’ll bring you a drink. Who . . .” Even in Lucky’s weakened state he musters up a laugh, tears start to form in his eyes as he falls into hysterics.
“Next you’ll be telling me you’ll let me go, if I tell you the truth. Haven’t fed me in days . . .” Lucky starts muttering to himself.
Deborah looks up at the two girls on either side of Lucky. “Bring me whoever was in charge of the feedings for the past two days. Now!” A girl in yellow runs out and returns with Grace and a girl in red.
“Who ordered him starved?!” The girl in read shifts from foot to foot then says; “He deserved it.”
“Patricia, I don’t know who made you the judge but you will bring food from your own persona store now, I believe you two share the same tastes. Patricia nods her head and leaves the room. “And you since when do you take orders from Patricia?”
“I don’t . . . its just that . . . she said that that um she would handle the feeding on one side and I on the other, he fell on her side.”
“Lucky me,” Lucky says.
“What is your name? Do you even have a name?”
“Bite me,” Lucky says.
“You have a smart mouth, so this is your true form?”
“HA!” Lucky says starting to feel his voice and energy go.
“Here is the food you requested,” Patricia says begrudgingly holding out a tuna fish sandwich and a tall glass of milk. Patricia approaches Lucky and is stopped by Deborah.
“Wait, put him back downstairs and maybe a few more hungry hours he’ll be ready to talk.” The two girls that were standing on either side of Lucky un chain him from the chair and re chain him to the pole.
He curls into a ball but can’t immediately escape into sleep. His stomach starts to growl as he remembers the meal and then a girl with a Polaroid comes and snaps a few pictures of him.
“Go away,” he mutters.
“Don’t worry your friends will be joining you soon,” The girl says waving the pictures. She seems satisfied with what comes out and walks away with them.
~ ~ ~ 6 ~ ~ ~
A letter arrives on Pyra’s door step via owl. The strange thing is its close to midnight and there sure as hell is no mail. Adam hearing the thump opens the door and picks up the letter. Josh takes it from him gloves on his hands having absolutely no trust left at this point. He takes it into the basement and goes over to the wall where all his platinum plaques hang. He touches the star over the ‘N’ and the ‘C’ that represents him, the wall pulls away and he and Adam enter the bat cave.
Like it was pulled straight out of the bat man movies all it was missing was a bat mobile and a few bats. He smiles as he remembers a time Nausi called him a liar and saying that he named the cave the bat cave under false pretenses. He walks over to the supercomputer of all supercomputers (courtesy of Chester) and puts the envelope on a plate. It scans the envelope opens it and scans the letter. The computer can even analyze the trace saliva used to seal the envelope and each magazine and newspaper the ransom note came from. Josh wonders why they didn’t just type it in good old fashioned Times New Roman. He’s even able to find a trace finger print. In a few seconds a whole set of documents from doctors, secret groups and many others come up from the evidence.
“They’re called the order of the wind,” Josh tells Adam as he scrolls through documents. “Dressed as wind dancers, their goal is to destroy all evil scattered by the four winds. Their current leader is Deborah, who has a personal vendetta against vampires. Ever since they killed her mother and drove her father mad before a failed attempt at turning him. After which neither living nor dead Deborah was forced to kill him.”
Adam looks at the picture of Deborah and thinks the redhead would be more suited for a video game. “Trained in the lost magics they are seen by all, and remembered by none. They all wear the traditional dress to pay tribute to the wind except for Deborah who has discarded her robes of white for all black attire in a form of mourning that makes her quite vulnerable and easily detected.”
“JC . . .” Adam starts.
“Here are some of the places she’s been, she’s wiped a lot of vampires off the map. A regular Buffy you might say.”
“JC . . .” he tries again.
“Her combination of magic and technology is lethal to anyone she wants to stop and she has vowed not to rest until she finds the vampire that killed her father and the scourge that is vampires is wiped off the face of the Earth.”
”JC!” Adam yells.
”Huh? What? Weren’t you paying attention?”
“Its not that you never bothered to read the letter!”
“Oh.”
To the Vampire and his consort,
We have your cat beast but we are willing to let him go for a trade we want the vampire and are willing to free your pet. We know you will not involve the police in such matters. You have until dusk tomorrow to comply then the beast dies. Come to the burned out box factory on . . . we just want to talk and be warned you are being watched and any false moves will merit his death.
The computer ejects the Polaroids of Lucky chained to a pole with a haunted and slightly angry face.
”What do we do?” Adam asks.
“We have o get Lucky out of there without trading one hostage she might kill for one she will kill.”
“We can’t just let Lucky die,” Adam says starting to think about who could make this better with a wave of her hand. “We could just tell . . .”
“You really want to tell her we got her cat kidnapped by an order determined to reclaim the earth for humans and humans alone?”
“Well, I’m not really a fan of the way she gets when she has to fight.”
“A little too mental?” JC says.
“Yeah and that’s for us,” Lucky is like her kid. I know she would like kill for him.”
“A mother’s love knows no bounds,” JC says. “So do we tell her or try to be the hero?”
“So where are you hiding the cape?” Adam asks as Josh nods and turns to the computer. He starts printing up the schematics of the warehouse to plan a mode of attack. He uses the photos of Lucky to assess the fire damage and how much the warehouse has changed since the plans he is looking at were drawn up. Adam decides to go upstairs for a midnight snack as he ponders on all that is going on.
At the gate a veiled woman is feeling Lucky as she sees Endora approach the gate. She ignores the guards greeting as she proceeds to the eye scan. Endora knows the girl is behind her and can clearly read her mind and her intentions against Adam. She decides why not and has the gate open wide as she passes through hoping the girl has enough time to get in. She goes to her house smiling to herself a little. Once inside the girl in pink veils lets in a few more veiled women.
“The guard will awake in twenty minutes and remember nothing,” the girl says drawing a dagger. “Which one?” They says looking at the two houses.
“No there are more I saw him walk into the distance. He was on this side.”
Adam sits on the couch and turns on the television. He stays on MTV watching a barrage of late might rock videos, as he waits for his blood to finish heating up. He suddenly feels a breeze shift his hair. He’s confused since he knows the windows aren’t anywhere near the couch. He gets up and a girl in pink blows powder in his face. It freezes him in place. The girl in red pulls out a dagger and places the basin just under one of Adam’s arms. She slits his frozen wrist and the blood flows freely into it and the wound refuses to heal since he is frozen. When a sufficient amount has been drained, the girl in pink blows another burst of pink powder and he falls over in his weakened state. The girls watch in slight awe as his skin lightens, and jump when the microwave dings and start to move faster.
“What of the other?”
“If he shows his face, I have more mist he will remain in place until the light of the sun touches his face.” A woman in green and a woman in brown Adam on either side but are not struggling acting like he weighs nothing. They carry him to a van parked just outside the property.
“My hero,” Lucky says shaking his head at Adam who is thrown in a cage and slumps in the floor in a unconscious heap.
Back at the house Joshua comes upstairs and sees that Adam is gone. He looks around but doesn’t see any sign of a struggle. The only difference was that the lights and TV were on and a window was open. Josh wonders if Adam went out for some blood or something and decides to check the fridge which still had two containers of pigs blood in it. He also notices the microwave flashing the done button and he opens it and is greeted by the nauseating smell of hot pigs blood.
He is utterly confused and takes a seat on the couch thinking maybe he was just in the bathroom. He places his hand on a sticky substance and sees its blood. Its fresh and its clear to see Adam didn’t spill it. He also sees traces of a pink powder. He doesn’t want to believe what this might mean figuring there is no way they could get on the property. Even if they overpowered the guard he had no control over the gates. He finally decides he’s in over his head and gets the phone to call Pyra. He is instantly transferred to her voicemail. He hangs up and is about to try Mystic when he senses he’s not alone. He turns around thinking its Adam and is face to face with a girl in yellow veils, she blows some yellow dust in his face and he falls back on the couch asleep. The girl then runs off the property as fast as she can.
~ ~ ~ 7~ ~ ~
Lucky watches as they lift the unconscious Adam and strap him to a table that can be rotated so the person is lying down or standing up. Over him is a pitcher being held by a cord. Deborah and Grace walk over and when Deborah points to Grace she splashes some of Adam’s own blood in his face then pulls him into a standing position.
Lucky on the other hand has started his own silent mantra, “Pyra come help.” When his voice went yet again he just continued to mentally cry for help.
Pyra was standing in the hotel lobby looking around every few seconds swearing she is hearing someone call her. She gives up and takes a seat and starts daydreaming about her favorite topic Adam. She gets a disturbing vision instead, she sees Lucky lying as if dead and a woman holding a gun to Adam. She looks from Adam to Lucky who suddenly sits up in shock and screams Help.
Deborah looks at Lucky as if he was insane then turns back as Lucky finally passes out from the starvation.
“Who sired you?” Deborah asks. Adam continues to just stare at Deborah. As Pyra stands in LA the room spinning a little from the weird out of body experience. She dials the house and no one answers. She decided to open a viewing window focusing on Lucky and heads to the ladies room. Deborah is in her direct line of vision as she receives a gun like weapon and puts it to Adam’s chest.
“Answer me or you will never see another sunrise, who made you? Where is he?” Deborah says knowing of only one Vampire with Adam’s skills. A burst of flame appears between Deborah and Adam. Deborah staggers backwards dropping the gun as it glows red. Pyra appears a second later in shimmering flames. An alarm sounds as the women gather like troops ready for a fight.
“I don’t know who you are but you are a fool to challenge me, in my domain none the less.”
“Then I’m just going to be retarded,” Pyra says as the air around her shimmers as if she was in the desert at high noon. Pyra waves her hand and Adam feels like he drank a gallon of blood and he breaks the chains.
“The crosses!” Deborah yells as the girls surround Adam and Pyra. Adam is kept at bay for all of two seconds as Pyra incinerates all the crosses.
“As a Roman Catholic I’m quite insulted,” Pyra says looking at where Lucky is. The chain around him evaporates into thin air. She turns him into a boy again but he still doesn’t move. Deborah motions for the girls to stand back as she tries to understand what Pyra is.
Come out Come out
Where ever you are
Hiding
I need to know what you really are
Lose the veils
Lose the disquises
Show the desire you have hidden inside
Show the thing I refuse to let hide
Show the real you (Show the real you)
What hides inside(What hides inside)
Pyra screams as she feels like her insides are being torn apart. She refuses to let what ever spell cast affect her and in a few seconds the pain subsides. “My turn.”
“Pyra no!” Adam exclaims as she closes her eyes. When she opens them its like the very air is on fire. Deborah thought fire has taken all of the warehouse that it could take. She was wrong dead wrong.
Water
Hear my plea
On this land
Set yourself free
Take the fire
Quench the enemy
The water that washes through the warehouse puts out the flames and starts to sleep away boy Lucky who Pyra grabs out of the water and uses some of her powers to hold him. She lets out the same healing force she used on Adam and his eyes open. He starts bawling latching on to her. Deborah watches this with no heat and decides to cast the spell again completely in the old tongue. Pyra’s scram shatters all that is left of the glass and Lucky cowers still close to her but highly frightened. Deborah is slightly confused that Pyra screamed no. She notices even the vampire is distracted by the scream.
Pyra feels her entire body burn as she sinks into a fog and her body changes. She sprouts wings her hair gets ridiculously long and red orange and yellow and she is clad in a sliver armored bikini and white gauze like fabric that makes a long skirt that has slits all the way up to the bikini and just sleeves on the top part. An image of a phoenix dances over her head then vanishes. With a golden sheen to her skin she steps forward.
“Called by air
Fire answers the plea
Daughters of air
What do you want
Of the fire child you see
Deborah looks dumbstruck. She can’t believe that it is the same girl standing there. The main problem was that she knew what was standing there in front of her and she wasn’t sure if she should bow or run for her life.
”Do neither, you angered the girl not the flame, but be warned at times they are one and the same. Do not call me again for your foolish game.” Much to Deborah and the girls joy the phoenix vanishes without incident leaving Pyra standing there for the moment confused.
“Stop now.” Deborah commands and the girls surrounding Adam fell back like the well trained soldiers that they are. Adam quickly goes to Pyra’s side as Lucky crouches at her side his head resting on her hip. She strokes his hair as he continues to sniffle. She looks up at Adam who gives her a sad smile. Deborah walks over to the couple slowly and Lucky hisses, wishing he had claws to take out her eyes. He starts to get his wish going back to cat and Pyra picks him up never taking her eyes off Deborah.
“I can’t express how sorry I am about attacking you. It seems we are equals not rivals.”
“We should all just join hands and start in a heartfelt round of ‘I love you’ like one big happy freaking family!”
“Pyra, she’s trying to apologize,” Adam says.
“And I’m trying my best not to gouge out her eyes!” Deborah takes a step back.
“I don’t understand it, you’re the last hope. Here to stop the dark queen and the blackness. Why are you protecting the very thing you are here to protect the world from? Inhuman things.”
“Inhuman?! Who would want to be human with bastards like you around?!” Lucky yells.
“Gotta go with the cat, you’re the one pretending to call your girls off, yet that one is itching to throw the garlic bomb.” Patricia does just that and Pyra stops the bottle in mid air and send the girl and bottle flying. “And then there are those three.” Pyra says rolling her eyes and putting her hand directly over Adam’s heart and having a tan spread all over his body as she makes him human again. “I’m going to leave now, I recommend you do the same.
Don’t mess with my city or anything that belongs to me. Oh and if you touched a hair on Joshua’s head the thing that will come after you will make me look like a saint.”
A girl in yellow along the far wall looks about ready to collapse at Pyra’s last sentence. She sinks to the floor breathing heavily.
“Mei Lin compose yourself,” A girl in lavender says.
“I can’t I may have brought doom to us all. I gave the one she mentioned the sleep.”
“Relax, sunrise in near enough. He’ll rise then with nothing more than a slight headache.”
“But what if she leaves before that?”
“We can’t think like that,” the girl says hugging her friend.
Back over at Pyra Adam has pulled her to the side. “Just hear her out.”
“I don’t want . . .”
“I know you don’t want to just hear her out.” Deborah watches the exchange and tries to understand how a vampire was the voice of reason. She had asked Pyra to at least let her explain. Pyra takes a deep breath and when she looks at Adam he knows her answer. “We’ll listen.”
“For now,” Pyra adds giving Lucky a kiss on his furry cheek as he hisses in Deborah’s direction.
Deborah leads them to her office, on the way instructing a girl to bring them food. Once there she sits at her desk and looks at the chair chains hanging off its side.
“I would off you a seat but . . .”
“Man this place gets better by the minute,” Pyra flames up a chair much like the one in her living room and Adam sits down and pulls Pyra and Lucky on top of him which confirms Deborah’s suspicion of a relationship between the two.
“I really want to explain ourselves to you.” A girl walks in with food and drink. “Eat listen.” Adam turns down the food with a scowl and Pyra doesn’t looking flaming a bag of popcorn into her hands.
“You have a captive audience, and look no chains.”
Deborah looks at the two of them and starts to repeat a story sung to her every night when her parents still lived. A morbid bedtime story when you really thought about it. She started in the same singsong voice her father always did, God she missed him.
In the time of old
A history long forgotten
The world was new
Magic was anything but forgotten
Never shall the peasant girl
That changed the world
Her hatred not forgotten
Even in the days of new
Where magics are a millionaire’s plaything
Fire rising causing her end
Earth Air and Water
Reunite at fire’s might
Dance in delight
It was only the beginning when she ended Sana’s might
Deborah stops for a moment because Pyra dropped her popcorn. She senses an energy crackling from Pyra a darkness she doesn’t like and she catches a bit of the conversation.
“ . . . gone relax.”
“She’s been gone before, and I thought Lord Voldormort was bad,” Adam smiles and tightens his hold on her. And for the second time a member of the order realizes how close she came to death.
“Yeah I would have killed you and everyone else here, now stop thinking about me its getting annoying.”
“I thought you didn’t like to do that.” Adam says.
“Its out of my hands thanks to a flaming co resident of my body,” Pyra says. “You know you can start talking now.”
“Before I continue who is Lord Voldormort?”
Pyra smiles before replying. “You know who . . . he who must not be named? You know from the Harry Potter books?”
“I know not,” Deborah says and Pyra wonders what rock she’s been living under. Deborah looks at the two sitting before her three if she counted the sleeping cat. Adam with his golden hair and a sly knowing grin a giant in comparison to Pyra. Who would believe this girl cradled in the arms of her lover could reek more havoc than the dark queen.
“Some comparisons are best left for later.”
“Your story,” Adam says.
“Its not really a story, more a song, or poem as I was saying,
The thing you must know
The dark queen put on quite a show
What she was to become
Sure didn’t show
A mortal road all thought she’d know
Born a peasant on a lonely road
Eyes of blue hair of gold
Of such an evil never a tale has been told
Brought death to mother in a single hold
Left to raise father and brother
Callous and cold
Death was all they knew
How she slayed them
If only we knew
Called Queen by all
Princess by her own claim
In dark it was one and the same
Now as the first story comes to an end
Spreading history again and again
Learn how time she changed
Bend it again
Tore the world asunder
Magic and mortals no longer friends
Scattered to the four corners
Four orders
Bring it back again
Until the time they come
Angel and flame under the sun
Princess wolf flying one
Magic and Man reunite
In the end Hope brings the light
“Uh huh, and that explains you how?”
“The four orders, earth, air, fire and water, our powers have been diminishing over time and it’s the first sign. When water drowns and air can’t breathe, walkers sink and the fires freeze. . .”
“Um I have enough of my own mystical prophecies to deal with. All I want to know is why you went after my man.”
“It wasn’t him I wanted it was who made him.”
“You got me what to you want?”
“What?! But you’re human! You can’t sire a vampire.”
“Humans can’t set fires at will, unless you read too much Steven King. I do what I wanna do”
“No, No no! This is all wrong, I’ll never find him.”
“Him who?” Adam asks.
“The big boo himself the Drac man.”
“Dracula?” Adam says half shocked and half confused.
“Now I get it sort of . . . Barbie here has most of Dracula’s powers so you figured that the punk must of made him or at least could lead you to him?”
“Yes.”
“One problem, you took my cat, not much in the vampire department.”
“Our order is also one of cleansing, we eradicate dangerous oddities.”
“Like harmless house cats? Yeah sometimes Lucky’s clawing can get pretty brutal I think I lost a throw pillow to it once,” Pyra says shaking her head.
“Magic may be lost to the world of men at large but it is not dead. Things are still here. There are almost a dozen strains of vampire. All with different skills, appearances and feeding traits. Some a lot more dangerous than others but all a menace.”
“Yeah cause there are never exceptions to the rules,” Pyra says.
“With vampires no,” Deborah says then realizes her mistake.
“How about you quit while you’re behind and tell me why you are so out to get the most famous vamp of them all.”
“12 years ago he came after my mother, a descendent of Mina and Jonathan Harker. Like Mina he drove her partially mad before making her one of his wenches. My father was too late to save her and she and her master decided to turn him but he fought and the failed attempt drove him stark raving mad. That monster cost me both my parents.”
“I’m sorry,” Adam says.
“And searching in New York for a guy who like never leaves Hungrary?”
“He does now, there is a prophecy about a ‘enhanced’ woman bringing about his destruction he circles the globe creating children and leading me in circles.”
“Dude how freaking hard is it to track a guy who travels with 64 crates of dirt and a freaking coffin?”
“All he truly needs is a handful in his coffin. He just preferred to be on the safe side.”
“64 crates isn’t safe its deranged,” Pyra replies.
“Either way he has dropped all past pretenses and it is nearly impossible to find him.”
“Dude you ever hear of the internet? There are ways, you make it sound like he’s leaving quite a trail. Its not free to fly and you know a coffin on a plane has special forms and crap even if its just a huge ass box. Apparently he’s joined the new world how about you do the same and not just with your guns.”
“Don’t you think I’ve tried? There are too many variables to keep track of them all.”
“Okay, okay, I’ve listened to you and its sad and all about your parents but I can’t do anything about it,” Pyra says standing, she flames the chair away without warning and Adam falls on his ass.
“Pyra!”
“What? Just because I saved your life you think everything is okay? You and Joshua have a lot of explaining to do. So were you ever going to tell me you got my cat kidnapped? What were you going to just replace him with princess and hope I didn’t notice?”
“Um . . .” Adam starts.
“Man I’d expect this from you but Joshua has more sense! Man the both of you are punks. Let’s go,” Pyra turns to Deborah and she is hiding a smile, “being a monster is no fun.”
“I see, well a new day has come in more ways than one.”
“Yeah, sure,” Pyra says preparing to flame away.
“Wait, take this,” Deborah says taking out a box. Inside is a necklace with the ancient symbol of wind carved on a light blue stone. “The symbol of our order it was to be given to hope and its clear to see you already wear the symbol of fire.”
“What am I supposed to do with it?” Pyra says touching the jewelry and getting a vision of her placing it on someone’s neck though she can’t even tell if the person is male or female just that they are there. “Never mind.” Pyra says shaking her head. “I’d give you something but hey I didn’t have a chance to go shopping with the moving faster than the speed of light to save my boyfriend.”
“Pyra . . .”
“Adam, don’t speak. You’re in enough trouble already.”
“Ha, dork,” Lucky says speaking for the first time in a while.
“Goodbye,” Pyra says flaming off with Adam and Lucky. Deborah stands and walks over to her trunk. She unlocks it and pulls out her crown and places it on her head as her clothes transform into white sparkling versions of what her girls wear. She unbraids her hair and it falls down her back in red curls. Such a simple line and Pyra had revealed many truth to her in it. It was no fun being a monster and some what of a dictator.
She had killed vampires without mercy, maybe it was about time to rethink her course of action.
Pyra appears in her house just as JC wakes wiping the sleep and dust from his eyes which is vanishing as the light touches it. Pyra flames in holding Lucky Adam standing besides her. She takes one look at JC and he cowers.
“I’m sorry its just that . . .”
“Don’t worry Pyra, everything’s fine over here. Yeah Lucky’s fine! You called being kidnapped fine?! What the hell is wrong with the two of you?”
“Um . . .”JC starts.
“We didn’t want to upset you,” Adam says.
“Yeah cause there’s a nice way to tell me my cat has been kidnapped by the order of the wind sure you monkey butts! I can’t even trust you people with my cat.”
“Yeah!” Lucky adds.
“Would it help if we said we’re sorry?”
“Not much,” Pyra says.
“We’re really really sorry we didn’t tell you about Lucky we thought we could handle it.”
“And what were you do doing?” Pyra says looking at JC.
“I um. . . someone got on the property, they put me to sleep with some yellow powder. I just woke up.”
“What?! Rewind that!”
“What the yellow powder?”
“Dude how did someone get on the grounds?!”
“Um . . . they may have taken me from the living room.” Adam says.
“Okay you two . . .” Pyra just shakes her head and pulls out her cell and presses 3 on her speed dial.
“Wait who are you calling?” JC asks worried.
“You know exactly who.”
“Hello?” A very groggy Mystic says.
“We seemed to have had a security breach . . .”
“What?!” Mystic says waking up right away.
“Apparently, Lucky got kidnapped, Josh got knocked out and Adam got kidnapped from my living room.”
“What the hell?!” Mystic screams. “Let me talk to Adam.” Pyra turns to Adam who is shaking his head. She hands him the phone.
“Man we can’t leave you alone for five minutes! What the hell does security mean in Canadia?!” I can’t deal with this crap now!” Mystic says hanging up on the blond.
Later that morning RU returns home with Pyra popping back to get her stuff. They are all then given clipboards to list names of visitors. Mystic casts a spell which
magically bans all those who want to do harm to the people on the property. Because Adam places Jason on his clipboard it nullifies the spell (just in case you were wondering), to top it off the security guard gets pictures of some people who were never to be acknowledged and a button that connects him directly to the police and one to the property both at his feet as not to be noticed.
Lucky seems to have picked up the skill to morph from cat to boy of his own will from a combination of the spell Deborah cast and the ones Pyra cast, though he always is hungry right afterwards.
And so ends Lucky’s first adventure as a boy and Pyra’s first encounter with one of the four orders comes to a close . . .
The End
