Wonder Woman Stitch Markers

I had a lot of fun making these Wonder Woman stitch markers but quickly wondered why I had not added a star to the markers. The answer becomes clear in the next item created.

Wonder Woman Earrings

Stars are awesome aren’t they? You know who else has stars? Captain America.

January Etsy Update: His First Name is Agent

January 18th, 2013
Comments Off

Welcome to the first Etsy update of 2013.  We have,  Agents, Villains, Archers, Heroes, Kings, and a mix of the above.

Let’s start with the title character shall we?

His First Name is Agent. Agent Phillip J. ‘Cheese’ Coulson.

Quiet unassuming, and a BAMF.  The earrings and the Stitch Markers are made in the same style with slightly different topper beads.  But the are a nod to the quiet unassuming man in the suit. Seriously, ignore him at your own risk. For the Agent, he lives!

Harley Quinn Stitch Markers

Harleen Quinzel, do not get between her and her puddin’ Mr. J. He’ll put a smile on your face, and she’ll smash it in place with her mallet.  These markers are a not to the B:TAS Harley.

Aquaman Earrings and Stitch Markers

Arthur Curry, Orin, King of Atlantis, Aquaman.  I talked about these a bit before.

Ravenclaw Earrings and Stitch Markers

Ravenclaw, the Hogwarts house most associated with intelligence.

Green Arrow Earrings

Oliver Queen, Billionare, Playboy…Archer. Hmm  not how I expected that list to end.

I also popped the patterns for the Poseidon Cowl and the Bowties Are  Cool gloves onto Etsy as well. And that is January’s update, see you  Friday  February 15th for the next regularly scheduled update.  Any caped crusaders, masked menaces, whispers in the dark, legends, and all that you all are interested in seeing?

FO: Friday Aquaman/Picasa

January 11th, 2013

I spent the past weekend getting ready hopefully for next Friday’s update, (hopfully as my laptop is on the fritz) and I’m sharing my most surprising FO. There are a few other items that will go up that haven’t been photographed yet but should be just as fun. Also it gives me a chance to toy with Picasa on the work laptop.

This is a set of Aquaman Stitch markers. And if you are wondering what the photo looked like pre-picasa, take a gander below. I only made minor changes so nothing is too drastically different.

So far so good, Picasa is pretty straight forward and the basic functions seem to do enough for now.

There are also the Aquaman earrings. Both are based on his more classic outfit. Because that is what I tend to picture. Also, guys now I want to make Justice League jewelry/markers.  Though anything Martian Manhunter might just look like Christmas. But, I have Green Arrow Earrings in the works. Perhaps I have too much Justin Hartley on the brain.

Etsy Update: Stitch Markers and Earrings

I’ve been busy in marker land once again, both making things geeky and making them perfectly normal. And sometimes, sometimes you just want a throwback to your youth, or remember holidays are coming.  I got my hand on a muti-pack of crackle beads, and while some are still shaping up to be more themed sets, sometimes you just want pretty colors.

But first:

50,224 likely more now as I was about a third of the way through the story and have kept working on it. It might be the first thing my writer’s group workshops for me, in *cough* two years. Er…um.  *Whistles* .

Other items?  Bowties are Cool  is still in testing, and I really need to get pictures taken or the pattern will never be released.  Dark and Stormy is doing well but I have to move it to longer needles so one can see I’m working on the shawl collar and not some purple mass.

So Stitch Markers and Earrings all in the Etsy shop

One Down, One to Go

I happily finished Vivian and wore it sans zipper to Rhinebeck. I still have not found the zipper I bought, but have been wearing it to work all week. On my way to Rhinebeck I cast Dark and Stormy and have been working on it on an off this week. It is my Nerd Wars dissertation so I have until Dec 28 to hopefully finish it.

I’m currently at five inches of sweater. Which is pretty good as I worked on it to/from/at Rhinebeck and some last night at knit night. Though I only got a few rows done as I had brought in 85% of my stitch markers? I missed a box or it would have been all 100% and I am now selling my markers at La Casita  in Brooklyn our regular Thursday night knit spot.

That’s one of the owners Jen’s hand holding them for a shaky iPhone shot. They got a few different sets and I’ve been asked to make a couple crochet sets as well. There was also a trunk show happening that night  Toby Roxane Designs  and she made off with two sets of markers before  they were even in the computer system.

Also her logo was on sugar cookies on display around the store.

A chandelier with yarn dangling from it.  She had a few shawl designs that I was fondling and I was pleased that they were all available on Ravelry and would be available in store.  All in all a good Thursday night.

So much Etsy

So this weekend I went on a fandom hopping Etsy restocking/creating spree.  I made quite a few LotR items.

Middle Earth

Baggins Stitch Markers,  the silver beads remind me of the Mithril vest both Bilbo and Frodo make use of, and the spike is a tiny Sting of course with the blue beads representing the color Sting turns when orcs are near.

Dwarven Gold Stitch Markers, and Gimili stitch markers with green interspersed with the gold as he is not your average dwarf, but has a great friendship with one Greenleaf (Legolas to some). And of course an Ax dangle.

Avengers

And I wandered back to the Avengers with Dr. Banner earrings, Nick  Fury earrings, and we know what happens when we combine Dr. Banner and fury. Hulk Smash Earrings.  I will be wearing my own pair of Fury earrings as I rock out my Rule 63 (gender switched) Nick(ki) Fury at NYCC this weekend.

Doctor Who

Don’t Blink stitch markers, acrylic painted small wooden blocks, made of crumbled bits of  Weeping Angel, I mean nothing can go wrong there right?  Well if you want to be safer there are the  Cross My Hearts 11th doctor earrings.

BBC Sherlock

Consulting Detective stitch markers and earrings. In the colors of our modern BBC take of our detective.  And a violin charm.

Harry Potter

And finally Thestral earrings from Harry Potter.

They’re taking the hobbits it Isengard

September 25th, 2012

What did you say?  Sorry, for your new earworm of the day. I think I will have to watch the trilogy again, over Thanksgiving. You know for Hobbit research…and its been almost a year since I’ve watched them. A whole year. Madness!

There are a couple reasons I’m bringing this up, I swear. And they are all Crafty! First there is the fact that when I landed in JFK I realized that my body seemed to have adjusted to being back on the east coast and the vague feelings of exhaustion I felt most of the trip were gone.  So I went to the bead shops on  6th ave. I hope to have enough supplies for getting ready for the holidays, and my first craft fair. We’ll see.

And I ended up with Mallorn Leaves Stitch Markers.

And Mallorn Leaves Earrings.

I did not stop there, and there may be some dwarven items in the near future. But I did wander into another old childhood fandom. X-men.

Our favorite Cajun mutant, Gambit it’s funny that when I picked up the charms I was thinking of making something Harley/Joker then poured them out into a basket with the strands of beads I bought, and started humming the X-men Cartoon theme.  I never  really had a chance.  And of course they are all in the Etsy shop.

Back to all things Tolkien Knit 1 Geek 2′s Hobbit A-long  has started. And I thought it would be a good time to ressurect my Lothlorien Cape. The lovely photo below is from Sunflower Designs  as mine is only the first 25-ish rows with an error in row 20 or so that I can’t decide if I should frog or not.  Or just rip back to the error. It’s the cast on 458 stitches that gets me or tinking back 458 stitches x5.

Ripping back will take ages as it is an area with YO, and frogging makes my insides curdle a bit. Hence the reason its been put aside since March.  Decisions Decisions.

So, Remember when  I made Avengers Stitch Markers. The whole team got in on the action. And Loki, and the Bifrost.

No one thought that was all did they? So what else have I gotten up to? Earrings of course. I blame having gold spikes.  Loki Earrings.

And well you can’t have a villain without a hero. So first up, the First Avenger.

As usual everything is available in my Etsy shop.

Week 1 Done

It’s possible the Batman scarf is in a corner again.  For some reason the black yarn I’m using is full of breaks, and at some point during the Amazing Spider-Man I got irritated shoved it deep into my bag and ate more popcorn then I likely have in 5 years.

And back to the Tour de Fleece. I have set up shop in a corner of the living room. I spun Thursday but on missed 7/4 due to bbq adventures.

Thursday’s progress was small as I was working from home, and had plenty of work to do.

Friday even with seeing Spider-Man I got some spinning in.

Saturday I got distracted with Avengers Markers to round out the set so now I have Loki, Thor, and Hawkeye.

All up in the Etsy shop. Speaking of the Etsy shop, my Facebook page has reached 100 likes. So I have a 10% off coupon in my shop until Sunday, just use the code Facebook100 when you check out.

Sunday I worked on an old project that will get it’s own post but there are some parts that needed hours to dry and I wandered off to spin and then there was  True Blood.  I’m still working on getting it bigger on the inside.

I’ve gotten to the second of the four colors  the brown and it makes me wonder more about plying as there is much more of these colors,  then the later reds, and I don’t want a giant swatch of brown on brown. I’m wondering if I should ply it with something else. I’m leaning towards an orange or gold, I mean Mordor. There needs to be more volcanic colors.

Avengers Assemble: Knitter’s style

May 16th, 2012

So I finally saw avengers this weekend. I know what you’re thinking, it’s only been out one week. I tend to be a midnight showing kind of gal. So a whole week after the release, after the UK got it a week before that I was getting twitchy. The movie was excellent. Go see it.  If you haven’t there really is nothing more spoiler-y than you have seen in the trailers in this post.

Then I got home, and Saturday and Sunday I had goals, in between bacholorette party events. Take new photos of items in my etsy shop, the craft office in sunlight is fantastic, I never realized how dark the others rooms were. Restock items that had sold, and make whatever new items came to mind. I think some may notice a theme on what came to mind…
Bifrost stitch markers. While the rainbow bridge was not actually in the Avengers, what happened to it in Thor had a lot to do with the arc of this movie.

Hulk Stitch Markers. Oh Hulk you stole this movie and ran away with it every time you were on screen. Good job sir. Good job.

Billionaire, playboy, genius, philanthropist. And then there’s the suit. Never change Tony, never change.

And the one who ran  this movie. Seriously that scene in the trailer is just the beginning. Black Widow. Competent, brilliant, kick ass, and mostly fearless.  Go ahead, try to underestimate her.  I’m sure we’ll find your pieces eventually.

I am still working on an Avengers, set, and just need to grab a couple more colors in beads, and that should be ready to go. They are all available in the etsy shop  along with the restocking of these fun items.
