So VKLive is over, I’ve slept, and its now time to show you some shiny new things for the shop. There was already a couple of peeks of what was coming, though some of them did sell out at the show.
I have one set of Stranger Things markers.
The remaining Critical Role sets.
And some more dungeons and dragons and travel. And mermaid markers, working for the first time with real pearls.
Restocked items. I drink and I know things, The endless,
So as a shocking it of news to everyone here. I’m a geek. So that means people will tell me about geeky things in their life. At Rhinebeck, I played my first ever D&D game. Which is amusing as I’ve been reading Forgotten Realms for years. Some of the players and the DM were all fans of Critical Role. There were jokes, and descriptions, and some hilarious shorts. It ended with me wanting to finally watch this show.
Critical Role is a show on the Geek and Sundry Twitch channel where a “bunch of nerdy ass voice actors play D&D.” There are about 79 episodes available on the youtube channel and I think 81 available via Twitch. I am currently at episode 76 having started watching after getting back from Rhinebeck. The episodes are about 4 hours long…
So of course I have stitch markers for the cast of the show. I have been really enjoying this show. Vox Machina has wormed their insane way into my heart. Rolling dice, fighting monsters, and being awesome.
So I have ordered some charms to make some more sets. but right now I have Scanlan , Vex, Vax, Pike, Keyleth, Percival, Grog, and the DM. I also want to do a full team set. Possibly with charms from later in the series. And some NPC sets, and guest sets.
Happy Labor Day Folks. I hope everyone stateside is having a good unofficial end of summer Monday. The shop is open again. And It is chocked full of Halloween themed markers and earrings.

Stitch Markers. I may be biased towards them since I do make them. But the truth is there are a lot of moments when a stitch marker was a saving grace. How you may ask? Come into my parlor…
At first, when I started knitting, I used stitch markers only when the pattern called for it and only how the pattern called for it to be used. There were some additional uses I picked up quickly and some that were magical discoveries in a project much later than it should have been. So fellow knitters what secrets of stitch markers have you discovered? Here are a few of mine.
- The first time I realized you could use stitch markers for counting when casting on an obscene number of stitches…cast on 43439 stitches you say…
- Lace – markers have saved me from many a mistake before it would have been ripping back the afore mentioned 43439 stitches
- End of round marker
- Progress marker – especially for that period where you knit and knit and the yarn gets smaller but the project doesn’t seem to get any bigger
- Oh six charts that you alternate within the same row of the project – matches markers to chart
- Never forget to do those first/last three stitches on the end of a shawl- every time I think I don’t need those markers – 40 rows later, wait wasn’t there a garter edging?
- That moment when as a stitch marker maker you are away from home and have no stitch markers. You may just laugh at yourself and use yarn scraps. And that random marker that was in the bottom of the bag.
A smaller update this month but there are some new notions pouches for your shopping pleasure. Pac Man, Doctor Banner, Spider Man and Star Trek TOS.
So if you want to carry some notions in geeky style there are a few more options waiting for you.
In stitch markers we have the four elements. Earth, Air, Fire, and Water in stitch markers.
And two sets that are tied together. Whose side are you on. Team Cap or Team Iron Man.
This month’s shop update is brought to you by a smattering of silly names. Thanks to everyone who told me to go wild with the silly names. Let’s start with:
Do You Even Spin Bro?
And then there was the trailer that started it all.
Underoos: Peter Parker
I’ve started a mythology collection, it will be full of gods, monsters, stories, etc. I’ve started with my long held favorites the Greek gods but we will be traveling the world and time.

You go away for a weekend and your blogging schedule gets thrown all out of order. Well I have a few things to share but let’s start with the most recent. The February shop update is live. It’s a small one I realize, I’ve spent the weeks after VKL in a pre-crafting state, plotting and placing orders. But I think you will all enjoy these future plots. Now to the current plots.

For things that have been requested. The Seven Years at Hogwarts collections including the DADA – Teachers collection will start coming back in March. I have been ordering the parts needed for all 7 years and once a few sets are complete they will be back in the shop. The same is true with the individual doctor’s collections. Anything else you guys want to see back, or for the first time, feel free to ask, as always. I love chatting ideas.
By this time next week, I should have finished a Thursday night booth set up, and be working somewhere in midtown getting ready to do the first night of Vogue Knitting Live NYC. So I decided to show a preview of some of the sets of markers old and new styles that I’ve been working on. I’ve made a little over 60 sets for this how at this point, and that’s not counting the new solo progress markers that I have put together as well.
This weekend I am aiming to make some more notions bags. I have some new fabrics I’d like to sew, but we’ll see what happens.
We have the counter markers with the numbers 0-8 in the markers. So 9 markers per set in a variety of colors. More Yarn Skein markers in different sizes and colors. From top left, multi-craftual Markers, Carry on my wayward son, all seven of the DADA teachers (though year 7 is simply a death eater marker), and The boy who loved. And lastly, New York State of Craft, Wine and Chocolate, Sudden yet Inevitable Betrayal, and some of the Solo progress markers. There are lots more in progress, and even done.
This month’s update was all about color variations. Also the sale in the shop is still in its last days in celebration of my birthday. Use the code Birthday to get 15% off everything in the shop until 8/31. Also I have changed the name of the shop. The new link is https://www.etsy.com/shop/OneGeekCraft but midnightscribbles will still work.
The yarn skien markers are available in a few more colors as well as year of the sheep available in each color of the rainbow.
I’m slowly adding multicolor yarn skein sets.
