Sticth Markers, Marvel Scarf, Squares

October 9th, 2009

SD Card purchased so this post is full of pictures. I may be over compensating. Yarn Crawl starts tomorrow which should be fun though I don’t plan on doing anything before Saturday.  And we’ll see how quickly I get started. I may just end up doing my talk and going to the 2 particpating  yarn stores in Brooklyn as I can walk to them both.

So Captain America is done.

Captain America

Not sure  who’s next. Possibly Ms. Marvel.

There are also Stitch Markers

Gryffindor  Markers – Harry Potter

I could have sworn I had more of these beads so they may become earrings but I think they are wonderful markers. There just happen to be three of them at the moment.

Face of Boe

Face of Boe Markers – Doctor Who/Torchwood

These are my favorites of the sets I created, and I like the fact that each is in a different color. I wanted Boe Wavy bits but I thought that would be much to likely to snag to be any fun knitting with.

Department of Mysteries – Prophecy Orbs – Harry Potter

Execution of these makes me wonder, and there may be a return to the drawing board. But these beads reind me very much of the prophecies as seen in movie 5.

And below the cut the pictures of the squares.

Marvel Scarf – it begins…

October 2nd, 2009

So I have stopped the squares as I’m not quite sure what they will become and they were becoming quite addictive maybe they will slowly become a giant geeky quilt. Currently I have, Batman, Superman, Superboy, Wonder Woman, Hawkman, and Green Lantern.

There will be pictures once I get and SD card reader. I found my older camera that is being held with tape. But it works unlike the one that looks like its in perfect condition. Ah Kodak you perplex me so.

So to stop from making squares I have started a Marvel Scarf. Right now I have started with Captain America or to be more specific:

CaptainAmericaShield

Of course its double knit, so there will be more fun with three color double knitting or as a fellow knitter has dubbed it triple knitting.

Next up is:

spider-man-logo Our  friendly neighborhood Wall Crawler or possibly the spider on his back that looks like a spider tracer.  spidertracer

Other Marvel people on the to do list include  S.H.I.E.L.D (ultimate logo), Ms. Marvel (Carol Danvers), Fantastic 4, X-men, Phoenix (dark/light TBD).

On the maybe list are Thor, Venom, Wolverine, Dr.Strange, Spiderwoman, and Quicksilver.

On the if I can figure out something to represent you: Hulk, Ironman, Storm.

And I’m drawing a blank.

Lastly Follow me on Twitter: 1Geek2CraftAll You know if you do that sort of thing. :D

Dragon Con and More Heroes

September 22nd, 2009

Move is done! Unpacking not so much.

So went to Dragon con over Labor Day weekend.  It was a blast. And of course I knit during the panels.  I knit a few hero squares. I somehow managed to find time to go to Strings and Strands, out on Roswell Rd. Lovely little shop. We got there right before closing and there was never any indication that we had to go and the owner ended up calling a cab for us to take back to downtown.  I ended up buying two skeins of 1500yd lace one in red the other in black (I do have a lot of love for those colors.)

Down to the squares knit at DragonCon. Met and Saw quite a few knitters and Crocheters. There was also a Superman Square that has been lost in the moving abyss. It was backwards (well the side that should have been correct was the reverse of the colors, blue S red BG) But I did double knit it with all three color. I’m working on another one so that should be done once I  Actually knit it.

Hero Squares

Are they potholders? Squares in a larger project? I haven’t decided. I may even felt them.
