Lantern Corps Scarf

July 18th, 2009

So the Lantern Scarf is done. I’m highly pleased with how it came out. Okay I might want to shrink the star sapphire star a little but otherwise highly pleased with how it came out :D .  Be warned this post is going to be full of pictures. Because well the scarf looks great and i took a ton. Its reversible in the true sense of the word.

We have Progress

April 24th, 2009

After a few weeks of letting it fall to the way side I have resumed knitting the lantern scarf in the last couple days and am now 50% done.  I have completed Hate(red) and Hope (blue). So that is 4 down and 4 to go. I still have to write out the chart for the others as I have chart fail and would mess it up of I tried to follow the image. Though seeing as they are all symmetrical I could be wrong. Left to right, right to left all the same :D

I really like how Hope came out. And the way the blue stands out so well.

Reverse Hate

And of course the other side as well. I really like that this is actually going to be a double sided scarf. Because even with my best intentions the lack of any plan or plot for the Justice League scarf means that it is only double sided in theory. Superman and the Flash especially with the duplicate stitch. But there is tricolored double knitting so… possibly next time.

Next up Avarice (orange, then Love (Purple), Followed by Compassion and last but from from least Will (green). If I can get my act together and write these. I’ve already charted them out.

In other knitting news hit the Geek SnB where my reputation (read Justice League Scarf) preceded me. Though I did end out have many a comic convo with the BF of the leader of the group.

Current WIPs

April 6th, 2009

As I currently am trying to make my way through my list and wait for my Knit Picks order.  No I haven’t broken my rule already I made the order over a week ago.  I just took stock of everything on needles. The list is behind the cut.

Waiting for my winder to arrive, though I have not yet gotten a swift. We’ll see how that will work out, pondering making a makeshift one but who knows how well that will work. I seem to still be making yarn related purchases. I just let the Container Store (that store is so addictive) with three containers to hopefully hold my yarn. Once I get that organized I’ll likely post pictures.  But that does cover No 3 on the list, or it will once I actually put the stash in the containers. Let’s hope it fits.
And also another addition to my list. Use my books – I’ve been doing well the Stitchonary Volumes 1 &2 but I have 3 Stitch n’ Bitches, (including the happy hooker) a sweater book, a general stitch guide, Visual basics socks, and a mitten/glove book on the way. I have plenty of books, patterns in queue on Ravelry, and random ideas.

Death and Fear

March 30th, 2009

So I’ve started the lantern scarf. Death is done and I’ve started on Fear which is causing some issue but I worked it out on the subway today so that should be going well. Next up is Hope then Rage.

Flip top Mittens /More Geek

March 27th, 2009

Does anyone actually use the name Glitten? Do these actually qualify as they don’t have fingers? Anyway I’ve made this pattern so often I have it memorized, and can make a pair in a few hours. This is the most recent of the bunch finish months ago (as I was giving it to the owner as a late Christmas/birthday gift thing)  but I finally took a picture of it.

Mittens

Mittens

According to Ravelry I’ve made them 11 times. Scary since I only own one pair. But It was the project I learned to knit on the round with and how to cast on mid project.

The Pattern is:    Valentine’s Hat & Mittens by Heather Dixon from Stitch ‘N Bitch Nation

I own the almost the entire Stitch ‘N Bitch Family. I started with The Happy Hooker and kept going. I like the style and the projects even if I seem stuck on the mittens I plan to make arm warmers really I do.
In other news:
I am nearly done plotting out the Lantern Scarf though I seem to be having a block right now gridding Love

Star Sapphire Corps

Very tiny picture i know but I have been playing with pixels to try and figure out why the chart won’t cooperate.
It is one of the last ones I’m doing but I want to get the dimensions right so I can avoid one of the biggest problems with the Justice League scarf.  Once I had knit the Green Lantern I had to force everything else into the size, worked out well for some, and badly for others i.e. Batman.  I’m hoping to make the scarf 20×25 for each corp though Rage

Red Lantern

Red Lantern

is a bit higher  26 rows than anything else. So possibly 25×30. We’ll see when I cast on.

So of course I just have a moment where my mind screams squares and I now have Love charted. its 23×23 and I think that works. Cast on Tomorrow!
339861-195030-black-lantern-corps_super The Black Lantern will be first likely followed by the Sinestro Corps. Death and Fear…

Yarn Purchased

February 24th, 2009

Well  back at NYCComicCon at the DC area I saw this.

Lantern Corps

Lantern Corps

And all I could think was I want it!  And hmm I could Knit that. Yes I knit during panels, even Torchwood. I’m happily addicted.

Well I hit Knitty City and am now the proud owner of every color necessary to make a double Knit Lantern Corp Scarf.

Lantern Corps Yarn Some of it is from the Justice League scarf . But once I get more black we’ll be in business. And once I make patterns for the the various symbols. Then maybe I can give Marvel some love.
