I had a lot of fun making these Wonder Woman stitch markers but quickly wondered why I had not added a star to the markers. The answer becomes clear in the next item created.

January Etsy Update: His First Name is Agent

January 18th, 2013
Comments Off

Welcome to the first Etsy update of 2013.  We have,  Agents, Villains, Archers, Heroes, Kings, and a mix of the above.

Let’s start with the title character shall we?

His First Name is Agent. Agent Phillip J. ‘Cheese’ Coulson.

Quiet unassuming, and a BAMF.  The earrings and the Stitch Markers are made in the same style with slightly different topper beads.  But the are a nod to the quiet unassuming man in the suit. Seriously, ignore him at your own risk. For the Agent, he lives!

Harley Quinn Stitch Markers

Harleen Quinzel, do not get between her and her puddin’ Mr. J. He’ll put a smile on your face, and she’ll smash it in place with her mallet.  These markers are a not to the B:TAS Harley.

Aquaman Earrings and Stitch Markers

Arthur Curry, Orin, King of Atlantis, Aquaman.  I talked about these a bit before.

Ravenclaw Earrings and Stitch Markers

Ravenclaw, the Hogwarts house most associated with intelligence.

Green Arrow Earrings

Oliver Queen, Billionare, Playboy…Archer. Hmm  not how I expected that list to end.

I also popped the patterns for the Poseidon Cowl and the Bowties Are  Cool gloves onto Etsy as well. And that is January’s update, see you  Friday  February 15th for the next regularly scheduled update.  Any caped crusaders, masked menaces, whispers in the dark, legends, and all that you all are interested in seeing?

Looking Forward Etsy in 2013

January 5th, 2013

Comparing my Etsy shop in 2011 and 2012 is has grown a lot, as I find my flow, which seems to be a combination of  geeky jewelry and stitch markers. Both overt and covert. I had a great conversation about video games, Nintendo, game shops, all because I was wearing my invincibility star earrings, when I went to pick up my new boots.

Going forward I want to continue that trend, of having items that are attention catching to some.  Being at an event or party and starting a conversation, because someone asks if your earrings are a Tardis, or just a  really pretty blue.

And somedays you  decide to show some  Potter Pride. Because otherwise you are in a suit for work  and where is the fun in that? Did I mention I just bought purple leather boots? Yeah I like adding a dash of quirk.

So with that I think I want to have more regular updates. Starting with Monthly updates, excluding restocking, or re-listing items. And possibly growing to bi-weekly in the summer, and weekly around the holidays.

That way everyone knows when an update is coming, and are ready to see something new. Possibly a newsletter to let everyone know when things are coming.  Still putting ideas together for that.  So stay tuned for the first scheduled  Etsy update, on the third Friday of the month  (1/18).  Now I’m off to make things so I have something to show for this update.

Etsy Update: Stitch Markers and Earrings

December 7th, 2012
Comments Off

I’ve been busy in marker land once again, both making things geeky and making them perfectly normal. And sometimes, sometimes you just want a throwback to your youth, or remember holidays are coming.  I got my hand on a muti-pack of crackle beads, and while some are still shaping up to be more themed sets, sometimes you just want pretty colors.

But first:

50,224 likely more now as I was about a third of the way through the story and have kept working on it. It might be the first thing my writer’s group workshops for me, in *cough* two years. Er…um.  *Whistles* .

Other items?  Bowties are Cool  is still in testing, and I really need to get pictures taken or the pattern will never be released.  Dark and Stormy is doing well but I have to move it to longer needles so one can see I’m working on the shawl collar and not some purple mass.

So Stitch Markers and Earrings all in the Etsy shop

Back From Texas

September 10th, 2012

So how was Texas? Hot. Well it was hot the few minutes I spent outside. We were only able to go to dinner once to Underbelly while in Houston, Dallas went Airport – Hotel – Client – Airport. So not much to see there, such is the nature of work Travel. I expect more of the same + exhaustion next week in Phoenix. My flight takes off at six and I will be landing w the time difference at 10:30 after a layover in Detroit. I will deal with it all with a More Knitting Time.

This weekend I wrapped up a few things that I had been getting ready for the shop and started posting, as I caught up with a bunch of the DNC speeches, I started posting a set of earrings I made all around Game of Thrones. It also helps that I finally finished the last bit of A Feast for Crows, I just have to add A Dance with Dragons to the Kindle and get started on that. Also reading the note at the end of Feast For Crows from GRRM, made me try not to think about how long it will be til the next book.

Mother of Dragons Earrings in Green, Black, and Gold.  One for each of the Dragon eggs Dany was gifted at her wedding.  The red and black beads are fore House Targaryen and their symbol of a red three headed dragon on a black background.  ”In Fire and Blood”  Blood of Dragons, and the blood of old  Valyria.

House Arryn earrings, I see these on Lysa Arryn, as she goes about life at the Vale, making use of the sky cells, and the Moon Door.  ”As High as Honor”  a white bird on a blue background is the symbol of House Arryn.

Night Watch Earrings.  I took a fitting line out of the oath of the night’s watch for this. “I am the sword in the darkness.”  The first line of defense for the realm from all the mysteries and dangers further north of the Wall.

House Tyrell Earrings. A house whose motto just makes me grin. “Growing Stronger.” This is the house of the Knight of Flowers.  We meet a quite few members of this family that just remind you just cause their symbol is a gold rose on a green background, do not think them delicate.

As per usual they are all available in the Etsy Store.

WIP/FOs and Fiber

May 2nd, 2012

It’s been a while since I updated what I have been up to in the wide world of crafting I live in.

Spinning:

I’m hoping to get a  fingering yarn once I ply it with some green I have not yet started to spin.

I have also been pondering grabbing some black yarn and creating my first three ply yarn, with green, purple, and black. Seems my mind is on a Clown Prince of Crime. Or you know people who lose control and turn into giant green rage monsters (I’m not excited for the Avengers, not at all).

Crafting:

I had someone ask me a question on etsy just as I started pondering the same. Why don’t I have any Tardis stitch markers?

And the answer to that is I do now! Also I am a bit in love at how well this picture came out. Sunlight in the still in progress craft office is a wonder.  And while I was working on those I pulled out these beads that once upon a time would have become a pandorica. Instead they became Pandora’s  box.

And of course. Knitting:

I finished my dissertation. At around 10pm on the 30th for Nerd Wars. I have about a dozen things I want to change, From yarn to pattern repeats. But I have the start of a pattern and I shall work from there.  And you know blocking… that does mean I have 2 complete shawls for 2012. 12 in 2012? Not sure yet.

The Spider-man baby blanket has grown a lot. And of course I’m carrying the blanket around in a Spiderman tote bag. What else would I carry it in?

I have joined in Rock & Purl’s sock KAL  and have donated a prize. A set of stitch markers. Now I just have to find more than 1 dpn in the right size and I will even be able to cast on.  Whistles.  Go join!

Also I have cast on Bigger on the Inside  Of course I have. A tardis shawl? Done. The fact that I had the right yarn in my stash is extra amusing. Though there is a chance I will run short as I made gloves from that yarn as well.

I should wander off to find all the other’s knitting this shawl as well, and see how badly I may run out of yarn. But, I had to start this and there was nothing to do but jump in and shout Geronimo!

Adventures in Polymer

April 13th, 2012

I’ve been working in Polymer for a while now on various different projects. From a series of earrings based on a the four suits in a deck of cards.

All of which are up in my Etsy shop ready to go.  But I didn’t stop there.  Next came these. I totally blame searching for the Invincibility star on Google for the last post but I’m pretty sure I will be dusting off the DS and rocking out with some Mario.  Right after I finish  A Storm of Swords, hmm it may be a while.

Which are also up in the shop. I love how bright they came out and am just waiting for an excuse to quietly wear my pair and see who notices.

And while not polymer I have been working on a beaded, and silk project for a friend’s wedding which I finally finished and has me really excited. I would post an FO but there may be viewers of this blog who should not be seeing things. Some people call them grooms.  So instead here’s a shot of  supplies and assembly in progress.

Dragon Con Etsy Sale

September 1st, 2011
Comments Off

Likely by the time this post goes live, I will be on  my way to LGA or somewhere in the Delta Terminal, possibly explaining why I need 3 flasks.  But I am leaving my Etsy Store open. This does mean anything purchased Thursday will not go out until Tuesday.

To make up for the shipping delay and because I shall be going to Dragon Con once again and it is the Conventions 25th year, everything in the shop is 25% off, simply use the code DCON25 when you check out for the discount.  The sale will go on from 9/1 – 9/5.  It is on everything. And there are some new items I haven’t mentioned on the blog.

Hedwig Earrings

Golden Snitch Pendant:

And restocking of the Tardis, Severus Snape,  and Golden Snitch Earrings.

An Etsy Sunday

April 19th, 2011

Sunday I seemed to develop a theme for the crafts I worked on.  This book Series about A wizard named Harry.  You may have heard of it, he’s based in Chicago…wait no I mean that other Wizard named Harry.

My favorite piece from all those that I worked on. To the tune of I must get the parts to make more are the Golden Snitch Earrings.

The wings actually move and I think the detailing on the gold beads are very close to what they should be.  The earrings are pretty small and maybe I’ll add some gold beads to the next set to make the dangle longer. But I like how simple they are.

Next Up: Harry Potter – Youngest Seeker in A century – the boy who lived.

Brass tone lightening bolts and glasses with seed beads in the Gryffindor colors

And while one is on the topic of Gryffindors one Hermione Granger.

Books and cleverness are something I can get behind, and these earrings come with both a book charm and a quill charm, with some beads for her house.

A former member of the house of the lion was also covered.

Sirius Black, Padfoot,  Snuffles. With star and dog par charms, for the Marauder.

And on the other side of  the Hogwarts coin.

Slytherin. These earrings are for just a bit of House Pride. And  when one thinks of house Pride one can’t help but t think of  the the Head of the house. Severus Snape.

The last pair of earrings I made were  inspired by watching The Stolen Earth and Journey’s End while working on all the Harry Potter themed earrings.

A pair of Handy Spare Hand.

Images all link to the etsy listing for the items.  I think my next crafty weekend will have me pulling out the polymer clay again.
