WWKIP

June 13th, 2010

Happy World Wide Knit In Public Day. I hope everyone had a good time and got some good public knitting done. I headed over the the  Central Library at Grand Army Plaza, but didn’t get to stay long, as I had a birthday party to go to. There were knitting, crochet, and spinning lessons. I would have loved to learn to spin but the time crunch as I had to make it down to Prospect Park West.  Maybe next year.

So as you all know I broke the yarn drought while down in DC. I felt this was a good cause when I heard, “I didn’t even bring any yarns or needles with me”. Said friend is only in DC for eight weeks for an internship but still so wrong.

I’ve decided to keep the tally going because I am making a dent in the yarn, and as I gear up for Christmas knitting, and other gifts I will have to buy yarn eventually but I am making progress. So I have simply added a new category. Skeins Purchased in 2010.

Another thing I’ve been picking up like there is no tomorrow are stitch dictionaries:

Those two being the most recent purchases.  Both books have appealing stitches and are helping to inspire and show me how I’m going to pull out some of the images in my head.

I also picked up a new project bag. This one in fact. I had been turned onto the seller by a fellow knitter and needed a second bag.

Despite the knitting in public I’m still only a third or so of the way done with the  blue jeans shawl, I blame writing, and reading on the bus, but I’m sure it will get done soon enough. Hopefully to keep me warm on said bus.

August is for Vampires

August 5th, 2009

So August seems to be vampire month. Which works for me as I get to work a lot in my two favorite colors. Its  also new craft time for me as I’ve been to AC Moore and Michael’s for the first time and picked up things to pick up my beading again and start working with polymer clay.  I’m sure once I get a work station set up those projects will be in here just as often.

Pillow

This will become a Tru Blood pillow or a bag, based on the picture below,  via Dupicate stich. Despide the lovely colors my camera saw fit to   add. Its Lamb’s pride bulky in black.

But Tru Blood aren’t the only vampires on the brain I have also created this bookmark:

esclipse bookmark

Based on  the cover for Eclipse.  A bag is also in progress that incorporates all 4 covers. Well not New Moon, unless I get fabric with that print for the lining. And I am off to Knit!

Current WIPs

April 6th, 2009

As I currently am trying to make my way through my list and wait for my Knit Picks order.  No I haven’t broken my rule already I made the order over a week ago.  I just took stock of everything on needles. The list is behind the cut.

Waiting for my winder to arrive, though I have not yet gotten a swift. We’ll see how that will work out, pondering making a makeshift one but who knows how well that will work. I seem to still be making yarn related purchases. I just let the Container Store (that store is so addictive) with three containers to hopefully hold my yarn. Once I get that organized I’ll likely post pictures.  But that does cover No 3 on the list, or it will once I actually put the stash in the containers. Let’s hope it fits.
And also another addition to my list. Use my books – I’ve been doing well the Stitchonary Volumes 1 &2 but I have 3 Stitch n’ Bitches, (including the happy hooker) a sweater book, a general stitch guide, Visual basics socks, and a mitten/glove book on the way. I have plenty of books, patterns in queue on Ravelry, and random ideas.
