Etsy Update: Stitch Markers and Earrings

I’ve been busy in marker land once again, both making things geeky and making them perfectly normal. And sometimes, sometimes you just want a throwback to your youth, or remember holidays are coming.  I got my hand on a muti-pack of crackle beads, and while some are still shaping up to be more themed sets, sometimes you just want pretty colors.

But first:

50,224 likely more now as I was about a third of the way through the story and have kept working on it. It might be the first thing my writer’s group workshops for me, in *cough* two years. Er…um.  *Whistles* .

Other items?  Bowties are Cool  is still in testing, and I really need to get pictures taken or the pattern will never be released.  Dark and Stormy is doing well but I have to move it to longer needles so one can see I’m working on the shawl collar and not some purple mass.

So Stitch Markers and Earrings all in the Etsy shop

So, Remember when  I made Avengers Stitch Markers. The whole team got in on the action. And Loki, and the Bifrost.

No one thought that was all did they? So what else have I gotten up to? Earrings of course. I blame having gold spikes.  Loki Earrings.

And well you can’t have a villain without a hero. So first up, the First Avenger.

As usual everything is available in my Etsy shop.

Week 1 Done

It’s possible the Batman scarf is in a corner again.  For some reason the black yarn I’m using is full of breaks, and at some point during the Amazing Spider-Man I got irritated shoved it deep into my bag and ate more popcorn then I likely have in 5 years.

And back to the Tour de Fleece. I have set up shop in a corner of the living room. I spun Thursday but on missed 7/4 due to bbq adventures.

Thursday’s progress was small as I was working from home, and had plenty of work to do.

Friday even with seeing Spider-Man I got some spinning in.

Saturday I got distracted with Avengers Markers to round out the set so now I have Loki, Thor, and Hawkeye.

All up in the Etsy shop. Speaking of the Etsy shop, my Facebook page has reached 100 likes. So I have a 10% off coupon in my shop until Sunday, just use the code Facebook100 when you check out.

Sunday I worked on an old project that will get it’s own post but there are some parts that needed hours to dry and I wandered off to spin and then there was  True Blood.  I’m still working on getting it bigger on the inside.

I’ve gotten to the second of the four colors  the brown and it makes me wonder more about plying as there is much more of these colors,  then the later reds, and I don’t want a giant swatch of brown on brown. I’m wondering if I should ply it with something else. I’m leaning towards an orange or gold, I mean Mordor. There needs to be more volcanic colors.

Long Weekend

This past weekend was a particularly long one. I worked from home Friday, and in between prepping for  a July of DOOOOOooooooommm in work projects, I finished all the spinning from the last post.

Saturday I had brunch with a pile of friends from High School, one of which I had just found out that Monday is expecting, due to a combination of our schedules clashing repeatedly, pretty much since the year started.  So when I wandered Michael’s to restock on craft tools, I grabbed some Acrylic yarn, because mom is a Doctor, and so is dad, I would not subject her to trying to remember even super-wash care  on a baby item.

Four skeins of almost 300 yards later and I started a baby blanket that night. Using the Constant Baby Blanket as a template  I’ve been knitting away as there are deadlines.  Mom is due sometime in August. And moving to FL in early fall, which means  I should finish this soon. Not even considering when there will be a baby shower.

Sunday rolled around and I head off to a wedding with a different group of friends I’ve know since high school. I have a few of those, I like it.

Me, rocking out in a purple dress which was the same color as the bridal party, again!  And the shawl I’m wearing, Gothic Moss  which worked great for the last wedding when I insanely put it together in a week last July.

I also took Monday off from work expecting to be tired and hungover not realizing when I took the day that the wedding started at Noon. I was home by 7 even with the hour or so drive back to the city.  So I woke up fine, around 10, and went to the craft room.  A bit of organization but mostly I played with things and restocked items. And I finally created a chain for the first of what will be a series of 7 charm bracelets. One for each year at Hogwarts. So first up Year 1.

Six charms per year, and touching on some of the major points of each year.

There are now five sets of the Tardis Markers available that should last a little longer than last time. Why am I even surprised they sold out faster than I can blink?

I finally got the beads I needed for Captain America Stitch markers. And Hawkeye, I just didn’t get a chance to make them, for the archer. Thor still eludes me.

And a surprise for me. But with the Marvel scarf, I guess they were on my mind.  I give you Fantastic Four Earrings.

Quietly geeky I would say.

This weekend is the first I think in three months or so where I don’t have plans. Other than starting the Tour de Fleece.  I plan to live in the craft room, maybe come out for Thai or something. I want to finish the Tardis Flasks  Take 2, and make some more Star Fleet Stitch Markers.

Also I started listening to the knit 1 Geek 2 podcast, and woah.  I was listening to the Avengers episode and ideas! Also just look at that layout on the site? Did you catch everything? I see Wizards, and Hammers, and screwdrivers oh my.

Avengers Assemble: Knitter’s style

May 16th, 2012

So I finally saw avengers this weekend. I know what you’re thinking, it’s only been out one week. I tend to be a midnight showing kind of gal. So a whole week after the release, after the UK got it a week before that I was getting twitchy. The movie was excellent. Go see it.  If you haven’t there really is nothing more spoiler-y than you have seen in the trailers in this post.

Then I got home, and Saturday and Sunday I had goals, in between bacholorette party events. Take new photos of items in my etsy shop, the craft office in sunlight is fantastic, I never realized how dark the others rooms were. Restock items that had sold, and make whatever new items came to mind. I think some may notice a theme on what came to mind…
Bifrost stitch markers. While the rainbow bridge was not actually in the Avengers, what happened to it in Thor had a lot to do with the arc of this movie.

Hulk Stitch Markers. Oh Hulk you stole this movie and ran away with it every time you were on screen. Good job sir. Good job.

Billionaire, playboy, genius, philanthropist. And then there’s the suit. Never change Tony, never change.

And the one who ran  this movie. Seriously that scene in the trailer is just the beginning. Black Widow. Competent, brilliant, kick ass, and mostly fearless.  Go ahead, try to underestimate her.  I’m sure we’ll find your pieces eventually.

I am still working on an Avengers, set, and just need to grab a couple more colors in beads, and that should be ready to go. They are all available in the etsy shop  along with the restocking of these fun items.
