I spin now. Spinning is cool.
So this morning 14 degrees, sun is not up yet but I made my way to Midtown and the Hilton for my 8am class. Spinning for Beginners. It helps that I had met a lot of people who raved about the instructor yesterday, so I had high hopes and boy was I right.
We learned both worsted and woolen spinning, top whorl and bottom whorl. We also learned how to ply 2 ply and 3 ply. I picked up the fiber in class and just grabbing a random bag I actually got black fiber.
Not the greatest yarn but hey its a start and I will be working my way through that fiber then the piles of bulleye fiber I got from Loop. And I grabbed some sparkly purple. With the class fiber there was the option to get a spindle and I got that one too.
And I spun up some of the purple as well.
Then because I like living dangerously I decided to spin the two fibers together.
I really like the way that looks and I think I will be plying the two yarns together and make myself something out of the yarn that I’ve spun. Maybe a hat. But now I suppose I can buy spindles, knitty noddys, fiber, and who knows what else. Maybe it will slow down the yarn purchases. Maybe.
I also picked up Whimsical Knits 3. So yay for meeting Ysolda Teague while wearing my snapdragon tam.
All in all a great if not exhausting weekend.
