One Geek to Craft Them All

So I have mostly completed the Supreme Dalek in red and black and have started a second one in cream and gold. This second one is in Karabella vintage cotton. My second project in cotton if one counts the failed yoga mat bag that is around here somewhere.

I still have to make the arm, and blaster, stuff and knit the bottom but otherwise the first Dalek is done. Yay! We have a supreme Dalek in sock yarn. About 6″ high un stuffed

And it is a surprisingly easy knit. Yes I know the pattern states its easy. But I’m the one that learned double knitting was  supposed to be hard halfway through the JLA scarf.  It’s as difficult as you make it. A cold has knocked me flat this weekend though I have used the time to start on the candle flame shawl. That I will be doing in an orange lace weight at some point.

Not sure this is the best yarn for the pattern, I think the solid orange would show off the flame better but I like way the lace work comes out and I thought it best to figure that out with a yarn that I won’t have to work way to many repeats of the pattern to see first.

Now I’m off to drink more liquids and listen to 21st cenutry breakdown. Which for some strange reason I thought didn’t come out until next week.

Knitting dalek, Doctor Who, gift

So I’ve begun knitting the Extermaknit pattern by Penwiper.  After twisting stitches, thinking the stitches were twisted and all other kinds of madness I switched to DPNs instead of a 40″ circular. Ah DPNs how I heart you. all is well now.

Doesn’t seem willing to have a good picture of this. I’ll try harder once its done.

Knit on size 0 DPNs and in Karabella Aurora 4 (black) and  Wildfoote sock yarn, (red) through the nightmares and the constant frogging I have been inspired for another project. if it works it will be a mix of knitting and my other crafty endeavors. But I have lots more to figure out, and supplies to hunt down first. My deadline for something less vague is the next special. Thanksgiving? Waters of Mars.  Possibly version 1 of the whole thing.

It looked like this again. I’ve worn it. Its super long, and i like it so shrug. I will have to try this blocking thing again. possibly more water. Or not sock yarn. Or both.
